Dr. Lisa Bellows is a professor at North Central Texas College where she teaches a variety of courses in the biology and agriculture departments including Botany, Zoology, Environmental Biology, Nutrition, Wildlife Conservation, and Pasture Management. Dr. Bellows will soon be teaching a course in sustainable agriculture for NCTC. Bellows is also the leader of the Dixon Water Foundation funded Josey Institute of Agroecology at NCTC in which the 165 acre PACE (Promoting Agriculture and Conservation Education) Project is a working model of Whole Land Management. Additionally, the Josey Institute of Agroecology hosts numerous programs pertaining to Whole Land Management. Bellows is also the Director of Thomsen Nature Preserve, a 600 acre property dedicated to natural ecosystem management in North Central Texas. Like the plants that she researches, Lisa is a native to North Texas. Her passion for environmental and land stewardship was deeply rooted as she grew up on a farm near Saint Jo, Texas, just a few miles from the Thomsen Nature Preserve's outdoor learning center. Lisa earned her B.S. and M.S. in biology at Texas Woman's University and Doctorate in Science Education at Texas Christian University.
