And so, at TUDelft our goal is to enrich the urban ecology domain but more specific to actively deal with (urban) ecological challenges, biodiversity loss and related issues from a planning and design perspective. In our view planning, design and engineering explorations can contribute substantially to the development of a model that considers cities as urban ecosystems developing towards eco-cities... Urban Ecosystem based planning and design is a fundamental approach to improve quality of life and environmental performance in cities at all scales.
