Becca Strelzyn

With over 20 years experience as a coach and almost 10 years as a tutor Becca is well versed in delivering high standard coaching qualifications, workshops and forums. Becca's coaching philosophy is tailored to the individual, creating challenging and engaging learning environments. Her coaching skills, along with her extensive knowledge of the game and individualised approach mean that she an excellent coach developer. Becca has a considerable coaching background in player development. She has worked consistently with GB & Welsh National players over the last 20 years. Her background in player development has focused primarily on the 9-14 age group and she has experience across many areas of coaching. Her continued success within coaching and developing players was formally recognised in 2015 where she won Tennis Wales Performance Coach of the year. Becca is a qualified LTA Mentor and prioritises not only developing others but also importantly developing herself, constantly seeking out knowledge and expertise. This places Becca on the cutting edge of not just her own coaching but also coach development and mentoring.

Ellen Jones

Job Titles:

Ellen is a senior lecturer in sport pedagogy at Cardiff Metropolitan University (Hub venue for the Tennis Wales Coach Development Centre) and the academic lead for all tennis performance modules included across the School of Sport and Health Sciences. Ellen is also the Director of Tennis and responsible for all aspects of the student tennis experience at the university. Ellen is an experienced level 4 performance coach with a proven track record of managing a highly successful tennis academy and developing junior players to international standard. Before moving into an academic role Ellen was a full-time tennis coach for 12 years and specialised in working with U12 performance players. In her lecturing role, Ellen has been responsible for designing module curricula aligned with appropriate teaching methods and assessment processes. Ellen delivers practical and theory lectures in areas such as; learning theories, coaching styles, reflective practice and motivational climate. As the Director of Tennis Ellen has developed a comprehensive tennis program at the university and provide students with career development opportunities which includes running LTA Level 1 courses for the undergraduate students and teacher training courses for PGCE students.

Lucy Scott

Job Titles:

Lucy has been involved in tennis for over 20 years, having started as a junior and competed for Wales and North Wales at both junior and senior age groups, and the GB Universities student team. Lucy is a Level 4 coach and coach education tutor, and is currently North Wales County captain for the U10, U11 and U12 girls teams. Lucy has been delivering coach education courses for over 5 years having completed the tutoring course in 2015, and has delivered on a wide range on courses since for different providers. Lucy is also a member of the Tennis Wales Board and North Wales committee. Lucy currently works for the Football Association of Wales Trust as Colliers Park Facility Manager in Wrexham. Lucy was previously the General Manager at Wrexham Tennis Centre and prior to that was the Head Tennis Coach and Manager at Durham University. Lucy received a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from the University of New Mexico where she attended on a full tennis scholarship and later received a Masters in Marketing from Durham University.

Mark Lewis

Mark leads on the overall Competition plan across Wales. He has close to 30 years of experience in Tennis Competitions both as a player, parent, organiser and official. He also has over 20 years' experience in tennis coaching and has worked for Tennis Wales for over 10 years in various roles including Development, Participation, Safeguarding & Equality and as a tutor. Mark is dedicated to providing appropriate competition for players of all ages and abilities, working closely with the LTA and Tennis Wales Performance Manager. Mark is committed to growing, developing and supporting officials across Wales to get more people playing and enjoying tennis more often.

Rob Cunningham

Rob has over 18 years' experience in a Head Tennis Coach role. Rob first became qualified as a tennis coach back in 1999 shortly before moving to Wales where he took his first head coach position in 2002. Rob was the first coach in Wales to achieve the Level 5 Master Club Coach Award and, along with this achievement, became director and founder of Vale Tennis Academy Limited. Rob and VTA's coaching team have a passion for helping transform tennis venues into busy places to play tennis with quality tennis facilities and access to high quality tennis programmes. In 2008 Rob became qualified as a tutor and in 2011 qualified as an LTA Coach Educator and Assessor. Since then Rob has delivered coach education programmes, qualifications and CPD courses for Tennis Wales, Inspire2Coach and The LTA. Most recently Rob has been selected as one of the tutors to roll out The LTA's new LTA Youth Programme. In his spare time Rob is a keen tennis player. He still plays for his local team Penarth LTC and holds the club's record for the most Men's Singles titles and the most consecutive singles titles won. Both records previously stood for over 100 years! His other playing highlights include representing South Wales for 5 years in the County O35s Veterans team and in 2019 he had the honour of playing for Wales in the O35s Home Nations.

Robert Wedlake

Steve Yeardley

Steve brings a wealth of skills and experience to the position from both an on-court and off-court perspective. Prior roles include managing Community Indoor Tennis Centres, Padel Venues and park sites, to on-court delivery as county captain through all ages in Wiltshire Tennis, head coach of the LPDC at Delta Tennis Centre. Steve also has extensive experience developing players across the pathway from participation to performance. Steve plays a crucial role in developing the next generation of coaches and volunteers to help us further the growth of the sport in Wales, whilst ensuring our existing coaches continue to receive excellent CPD opportunities and bespoke support to help them deliver quality tennis and Padel coaching across Wales

Vicki Broadbent

Vicki has over 20 years experience working as a Level 4 coach in North Wales. Vicki has run successful club programmes that benefit the whole community. Vicki's coaching philosophy is for everyone that joins her on the tennis court to fulfil their potential and aspirations. Vicki was Welsh coach of the year in 2009 and is a qualified tutor who has been delivering teacher training, level 1 and 2 courses across North Wales for several years. Vicki has a huge amount of experience managing individual players programmes, including goal setting, scheduling of tournaments and annual planning. Vicki manages and mentors coaches and also works with several different committees to further tennis development at all levels in Wales. Vicki has also represented Wales internationally as a player at junior, adult and senior level tennis.
