Chisomo Nyemba

Background Ms Chisomo Nyemba provides advice and represents clients in a variety of matters, including high-value, multi-party, cross-border, novel and complex matters. She represents and advises Malawian as well as international clients from a range of sectors, such as financial services, telecommunications, health, information technology, aviation, education, construction, and agriculture. She has various professional qualifications from leading institutions and is equipped to provide world class legal services. In addition, she has attended various trainings, including trainings on legal writing and trial advocacy, in the United States of America, South Africa, Nigeria, Botswana and Malawi. She is currently a faculty member of Justice Advocacy Africa and offers trial advocacy training to lawyers in various African countries together with other faculty members. Before joining DNC Chambers, she was a Principal Associate at Savjani & Co. Prior to that, she worked at Kalekeni Kaphale Lawyers. She has also worked at the Office of the Public Defender, Ministry of Justice, in Lagos, Nigeria. Throughout her practice, she has remained agile, resilient, hardworking and committed to satisfying her client's needs in an ethical manner. Ivy Nkhata

Ivy Nkhata holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree from the University of Malawi and is admitted to practice in all courts in Malawi. She also holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Malawi. Ivy started her journey with DNC Chambers as an intern in January 2023 and she has conducted research, assisted in drafting of documents and worked alongside experienced lawyers in a wide range of legal matters. Her work ethic and values align with those of the Firm. Ivy has served as a research assistant to distinguished figures such as a former Attorney General, a Judge of the High Court, and accomplished Professors at the law school. Her writing acumen is underscored by her victory in the prestigious Lex-Lead Essay Competition. She has also contributed to national discourse through the publication of various articles including in national newspapers. Consistently recognized for academic excellence and top performance, Ivy received the Faculty of Law Head's List Excellence Award at the University of Malawi for three consecutive years from 2019 to 2021.

Mr Francis Kalonga

Mr Francis Kalonga is an Associate in the firm. He joined the firm as a legal intern in November 2021 during his legal qualification course at the Malawi Institute of Legal Education ("MILE"). He successfully completed the MILE course in December 2021 and was admitted to the Malawi Bar as a legal practitioner on 18th May 2022. He became an Associate in June 2022. Before joining the firm, he worked as a legal intern at Mvalo and Company in Lilongwe. Prior to that he worked as a candidate attorney at Mhishi Nkomo Legal Practice in Harare, Zimbabwe. He also had a stint with Chris and Legal in Lilongwe. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws, Honours Degree (LLB Hons) with a credit at Midlands State University, Zimbabwe, a public university in Zimbabwe. He is also a holder of a Diploma in Law obtained from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College. Francis is very passionate about his work and is reliable. He was entrusted with the responsibility of class president at MILE and he represented his peers fearlessly. He has a special interest in commercial litigation.
