FARMCOLONY

Farmcolony, founded in 1975, is a unique community built around a working farm. Known as an agrihood, this unique HOA has forty-eight lots and all homeowners share joint ownership of the farm, equipment, barns and farm land. Prior to the founding of Farmcolony, the farm was owned by the Powell family for over 200 years. Many of the Powell family are buried in various cemeteries on the property. In addition to the cows, Farmcolony boasts a beautiful garden, orchard, ponds, chickens, goats, privately boarded animals, and timber... As a community, we have the ability to share farming responsibilities with our neighbors. This lessens the burden of full time farming, but we reap all the benefits. Many residents hold full time jobs and farm on their time off from work. Many helping hands allow us to work smarter, not harder... Farmcolony, located in the beautiful Blue Ridge foothills in Greene County, Virgina, has held crops and animals on its land for over 200 years.
