For over 50 years, the Golden Steer has been a destination for business meetings, anniversaries, wedding proposals, and family/friend gatherings to remind you of the kitchen table of yesteryear. Let us take you back to a by-gone era... Golden Steer Steakhouse was opened by John Vlahos in 1969. John was later joined by his brother Taki. During the ownership of the Vlahos brothers, there would be many famous faces that would dine at the Steer. From movie stars like Elizabeth Taylor (drank Jack Daniels neat), numerous local politicians (including Gov. Jim Thompson) and many of the star Blackhawks players of that era such as Stan Mikita and Denis Savard. Taki bought the restaurant from his brother in 1979 and ran the business until 1997...
