HOSKINS RESEARCH

Research usually begins with a top-down strategy: identifying trends and industries, and then trying to pick the winning companies in that industry. The investor generally has a better chance of picking a winning investment from a rapidly-growing industry than from a dying industry. There can be winners from bad industries, but those are trickier to find and carry more risk. Once a growing industry or trend is identified, a group of companies within that industry can then be compared.
