Balfour Beatty

Bevan has spent his entire 21-year career with Balfour Beatty and currently serves as vice president of business acquisition for public and alternative delivery projects in addition to providing leadership to our marketing, virtual design and construction and training teams. Bevan has served in various operations roles for large and unique construction projects including the NIH Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center, Air Force Memorial and Utah Data Center. Bevan also spent seven years in a national operations role cultivating operational excellence, lean thinking and best practices with teams across the country. Bevan is a regular industry speaker and a member of the board of directors for the Lean Construction Institute; he was honored to receive its Chairman's Award in 2017.

Bernita Beikmann

Bernita Beikmann is an Executive Vice President with HKS, Inc. and Director of Operations for the Health Group. She has served integral roles as a project architect, project manager at HKS for 21 years, and a coach and facilitator for project teams. Catherine Myers - President

Catherine joined SSOE in July 2017 as the SBU Manager for the Advanced Technology SBU and now serves as Chair of the Board of Directors and Executive Vice President responsible for the Advanced Technology and Building Design Group strategic business units (SBUs) at SSOE. Additionally, she is responsible for SSOE Systems, the firm's construction management division. Prior to joining SSOE, she held the position of Senior Vice President for CH2M's Industrial and Advanced Technology Business Group with responsibility for the semiconductor market-overseeing $200 million in annual revenue. More recently, Catherine had been the Director of Industry and Community Partnerships within the Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering at the University of Portland. Catherine is a graduate of the University of Portland and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and is a registered professional engineer. In addition to serving on SSOE's Board of Directors, Catherine also serves on the board for a local organization in Portland, Oregon, where she resides and works.

"I am excited to be able to bring my experience in Lean Construction implementation into this role while serving to support the LCI Practice Committee and Communities of Practice (CoPs) throughout the country and continuing to grow in my own Lean Journey." As Manager, Communities of Practice Relations, Denise Erminger supports the Practice Committee in its mission of strengthening the core groups that lead and grow our communities. As LCI's national staff representative to the CoPs, she will enhance communications between LCI National and the CoPs, and be the focal point for engaging other LCI staff in successfully executing this role. Denise was introduced to Lean Construction through her work with the construction organization at BP's Whiting Refinery serving as its Lean Champion for more than five years, and a member of the projects organization for ten. She has a proven track record in guiding and coaching construction teams to support them in achieving efficient field execution and excellent safety performance through the use of Lean methods and tools. Denise resides in Munster, Indiana (just 30 miles southeast of Chicago) with her husband, Don. In her free time, she enjoys bike riding and walking, home improvement projects, and spending time with their three adult sons, Jeremy, Josh and Kyle.

George Cusick

George Cusick is Executive Director, Global Engineering Solutions in Merck and Co., Inc with responsibility for the delivery of the global HPV Capital program. George has been with Merck for over 25 years and has been involved in all aspects of capital project design and delivery for projects globally. He has been developing Merck's Fast Track delivery process since 2005 on projects in the Americas, Asia- Pacific and Europe. In addition to his responsibility for capital projects, George was the lead Transformation Architect for a 2014 study of how to apply the principles of Merck's Production System to the capital program. This study identified five primary methods of improvement and he is now responsible for coaching the organization on the transformation intent and change management process. George has an BSCE form Bucknell University and an MBA from Lehigh University, and is currently Merck Global Engineering Solution's point of contact for the LCI and the Large Owner's Group.

Greg Stedman

Greg joined the carpenters union in 1977 and has worked in commercial construction throughout his career. Greg started at KHS&S in 2001 as General Superintendent. While at KHS&S, Greg has also served as Operations Manager and Regional Vice President of the Anaheim office. Over the last 9 years, Greg has spearheaded KHS&S' Lean development as Director, Lean. Greg`s 42 years in construction and his knowledge of field and office made it a perfect fit to lead the Lean transformation at KHS&S.

Henry Nutt, III - Chairman

Henry serves as the Preconstruction Executive for Southland Industries, after serving as the Sheet Metal General Superintendent for 13 years, and 34 years as a Union Sheet Metal Worker with Local 104 in Northern California. He was responsible for over 200 Sheet Metal Workers during his tenure and led Lean implementations on projects throughout Northern California on Southland projects. Henry's strategy of field support included a mixture of a "boots on the ground" type of approach combined with practical theory and relationship building. This approach has allowed him to authentically build new Lean Champions within the company, and successfully strategize with crews by answering the number one question, "what's in it for me", which simply highlights how the ones closest to the work can actually benefit from Lean Practices. Henry also worked with Dr. Glenn Ballard to revise the Last Planner System® in 2019. He currently sits on the National Board of Director's for the Lean Construction Institute, (LCI) where he leads a task force designed to encourage the adoption of Lean practices from Trade Partners. Henry was the 2018 recipient of the prestigious LCI Pioneer Award. He is also the current Chair for the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), National Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee. Henry is also the author of a new book called, "7 Principles|Creating Your Success in the Construction Industry", which is designed to help people effectively navigate in the industry after entry through Pre-Apprenticeship programs. Ilene M. Goldberg

She brings over 20 years of nonprofit experience to LCI, having previously worked with the National Association for Music Education the National Association of Landscape Professionals, and the National Association of Counties. Ilene received her B.S. in Nonprofit Management from Southern New Hampshire University. She is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the National Association of Professional Women, and the National Association of Women in Construction. In her spare time, Ilene loves to read and sing - she even has a background in opera vocal training!

James Pease

Prior to joining UCSF, he spent 12 years with Sutter Health leading teams using Lean Integrated Project Delivery to build projects in excess of $650M. James is a past chairman of the Lean Construction Institute's (LCI) Northern California Community of Practice. Joan S. Piccariello

In her role as Administration Manager, Julia Shellhouse oversees office operations, including database management, event registration, membership profiles and inventory for LCI simulation games and publications. She also serves as project manager for LCI's Association Management System (AMS) migration project and as a liaison for LCI members and Communities of Practice She received her education in Lean practices in her role as Assistant to the President of W.J. Usery & Associates, a labor-management relations consulting firm. It was there that she got a first-hand look at Lean in action through former Labor Secretary William Usery, Jr.'s work with Toyota at the now-closed New United Motor Manufacturing plant in Fremont, CA. Julia received her B.A. in English from Dickinson College. She lives in Arlington, VA with her husband, two sons, Jack Russell Terrier, corn snake and Russian tortoise. In her free time, she enjoys art, music, museums, reading, baking and baseball - "Go Nats!"

Kristin Hill

Kristin brings 10 years of Lean consulting expertise to the design and construction industry. Prior to being a Lean Consultant, Kristin founded, grew and subsequently sold an architectural firm in the Boston Area. Her firm was recognized by Architectural Record as the Best Managed Small Firm, in part for the collaborative philosophy of her firm. Currently Kristin provides coaching to teams and companies looking to implement Lean approaches. Perry was the Lean Executive Director at Parsons Electric Company for over seven years, working at the company for 23 years in total. He is retired now from Parsons, but still an active Lean coach for Parson and many others under his new company, Lean Ready Coach. Perry's interest in construction began with his family's tradition of construction in carpentry and masonry fields. Perry served honorably in the United States Air Force. Perry earned his black belt instructors' certificate under the tutelage of George Trachilis, CEO of Lean Instruction Institute; Dr. Jacob Abraham, retired Toyota A3 Sensei; Ritsuo Shingo, retired Toyota Lean Sensei; and Paul Akers, author of "2 Second Lean." Perry is a certified instructor for Lean Construction Institute (LCI), serves on the LCI education board, and is a certified instructor for Jeff Liker's Lean Leadership Institute (LLI). He has certified hundreds of Lean students in the LLI/Parson's Black Belt program, developed by Perry and LLI, to achieve the corporate goal of becoming a "Lean Ready" trade partner. Matt Kitzmiller

Matt currently serves as the corporate Lean trainer at Rosendin Electric. Matt began his career as an electrician in California 22 years ago. Upon graduating from the IBEW apprenticeship in Phoenix, he immediately began taking unorthodox positions that diversified his skillset in the electrical industry. Matt has worked in various capacities including field leadership, 3D modeling, MEP coordination, electrical manufacturing, spearheading large data center projects, and working as a lab instructor at the IBEW apprenticeship. Rob Leicht

Rob Leicht is a faculty member in the Department of Architectural Engineering at Penn State University. Rob investigates integrated design and construction processes through the lenses of Lean as they relate to project delivery methods, communication, and technology to support team integration and collaboration. Dr. Leicht teaches graduate-level courses in project delivery systems and Lean production management. He also leads the construction-engineering course dedicated to environmental system construction.

Scott Nelson
