Lightning Xpress was started in 2015 with only a handful of trucks. At the time, the company was started up as a supporting arm to the Brokerage division of the CJ Companies. The focus was to service the existing customer base and grow externally form there. In 2017 Lightning Xpress opened for business in the Los Angeles market and it quickly grew as a powerhouse in the Southern California drayage market.
