In 2022, Mengya was awarded a PhD degree from University College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland, with her thesis "Context-Aware Mixed Reality Data Visualization for Decision Support and Explanations". Her Ph.D. thesis explores context-aware AR data visualization metaphors to present explainable decision support data for non-expert users who may lack enough domain knowledge to independently comprehend system-generated advice. Before that, she received her Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from Beijing-Dublin International College, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing, China.
