Mary Newton

Mary Newton, APR, is the founder of M. Newton Communications, a public relations and communications consulting company. Mary is an accredited public relations professional with nearly 20 years of experience in the nonprofit, health care, government and military sectors. Drawing on her extensive experience and diverse professional background, Mary works with clients to support a wide variety of communications needs. Mary started her career in the United States Air Force where she served as a Public Affairs Officer for more than five years. After her military service, she became the national News Desk Manager at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in Washington, D.C., and she later transferred to FEMA's Southeast Regional Office in Atlanta. Prior to starting M. Newton Communications, Mary was the Chief Communications Officer at a nonprofit nursing home provider in Atlanta where she worked for eight years, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mary earned a bachelor's degree in public relations from the University of Georgia, a master's degree in communication from Johns Hopkins University, and a graphic design certificate from Emory Continuing Education. She earned an accreditation in public relations and a certificate in advanced crisis communication through the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
