Our Purpose at the Runaway and Homeless Youth Program exists as a result of legislation enacted on the 1970's, designed to provide a safety net for young people in crisis. We are faced with challenges of a society that is becoming more complex, and young people who have multiple issues to contend with. Our foremost priority remains to provide a safe haven for the vulnerable youth, while providing services that are holistic in nature for both youth and family... RHY works with runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth up to the age of 21. Services include: 24-hour crisis hotline; emergency housing; crisis and on-going counseling for youth and families; transportation; independent living skills; referrals; academic tutoring; and advocacy. Services are provided within an asset-based framework that identifies and supports the youth's strengths.
