ADITI SUBRAMANIAM

Aditi has a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Oxford and a master's degree in law from Columbia Law School. She is admitted to practice in India and the State of New York. Aditi brings to the firm expert legal drafting and research skills. She works primarily in patent and trade mark litigation and contentious matters before the IP tribunals and Appellate Board, and she routinely briefs senior lawyers for the same. She also advises clients on data protection and cyber security. As a litigator, in addition to intellectual property and allied matters, Aditi also handles contentious work in relation to real estate, taxation, labour and employment laws. Aditi is often called upon by various government agencies and private sector entities for training and advice on compliance with privacy laws. She was also the only attorney under thirty to have been invited to a seven person panel chaired by a sitting judge of the Delhi High Court for the curation and production of a legal guide for survivors of sexual violence. She is a regular delegate at international IP conferences, and represents the firm at national and international seminars. In addition, she is a regular contributor to several international legal publications of repute.

DIVYA KAPOOR

Divya has 13 years of combined research and practical experience in science and law. She has a first class master's degree in industrial chemistry with a specialisation in pharmaceuticals. During her industrial placement year, Divya worked at a private pharmaceutical company, helping to develop and test new chemical entities along with handling issues related to the scaling-up of said entities. Divya's areas of expertise include drafting new patent and design applications, filing and prosecuting patent and design applications worldwide in a wide range of fields - principally in chemistry, pharmaceuticals and in biochemistry - and representing clients in oral proceedings before the Intellectual Property Office and Appellate Board. Divya also has extensive experience in drafting both pre-grant and post-grant oppositions and preparing patentability and infringement opinions. She also drafts and prepares full case briefs for litigating counsel. As part of SNA's patent litigation team, Divya's strong suit is litigation in the sectors of chemistry and pharmaceuticals.

Hari Subramaniam

Hari Subramaniam has a background in medicine, biological and life sciences, physics and chemistry. He has had specialised advanced training in medicine, biotechnology, electronics and medicinal chemistry at various international institutions of repute. He was registered as a patent agent and admitted to the bar in 1981. He has been in practice for over 40 years, specialising in all aspects of intellectual property law. Previously, he was associated with Remfry & Sagar, attorneys-at-law, for nearly 17 years - for a substantial part thereof as partner in charge of the patents and designs department. In the course of his career, Hari has filed, prosecuted, defended, opposed and/or enforced (directly or in a supervisory capacity) over 45,000 patent matters in India and abroad. He has extensive experience in oppositions and IP litigation. He possesses formidable skills in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in most countries of the world, and in practically every area of technology. He was nominated by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) to conduct workshops on the Patent Co-operation Treaty (PCT) and as a tutor for patent specification drafting techniques. Hari was the first person to initiate black box (mailbox) applications in India under the GATT/TRIPS Agreement for pharmaceutical products, and his applications were the basis for the Patent Office to formulate rules and policies for filing, receiving and examination of mail box applications. As an expert witness before the Joint Parliamentary Committee, where he was also spearhead for the CII, Hari was instrumental in bringing into effect the pharmaceutical product patent regime in India. Hari is an expert in GATT/TRIPS and PCT related issues. Hari was part of the TIFAC team which initiated a Women's Scholarship Scheme to draw into the mainstream the huge scientific pool of talent existing in the form of highly qualified but not employed women in India. He, along with many other eminent lawyers, trained such women in the intellectual property laws, which has added 2000 patent attorneys to the profession. Hari is currently serving as President-Elect of the APAA International Body, and is the first Indian to be elected to this position. He is also the only person to have been elected to the position of President of the India chapter of APAA twice. He was also the International Vice President of the APAA for 13 consecutive years until 2016, and has been Councillor of the APAA for 20 consecutive years. He was one of four Indian attorneys featured in a cover story of Asia IP, entitled "50 Patent Lawyers One Should Know". Other than the various awards he frequently receives for his long-standing expertise and excellence in intellectual property law, he has been nominated as "Patent Attorney of the Year" in India on numerous occasions by several leading law magazines.

PHILIP ABRAHAM

Philip holds a bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Delhi and a Law degree from ILS Law College, University of Pune, a premier Indian college of Law. Philip was admitted to the Bar in the year 1999. He has worked with some leading intellectual property law Firms in India. During the course of over 25 years, Philip has acted for and advised various clients - domestic and international - in sectors including food, electronics, luxury goods, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, apparel, software, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and FMCG. He has extensive experience in trade mark oppositions and litigation, some of which have concerned seminal issues of law. Philip regularly addresses arguments before the High Courts, District Courts and other fora and commissions, including the Intellectual Property Appellate Board. He has vast experience in supervising and executing civil raids across northern India pursuant to an order of injunction and seizure by Courts. Philip routinely attends various conferences in India and abroad. He has delivered lectures and moderated sessions organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in India and recently delivered a lecture on the ‘Law of Intellectual Property in India' at a conference organized by the Association Francaise des Spécialistes en Propriété Industrielle de l'Industrie' (ASPI) in Paris. SRIRAM PANYAM

Sriram has over 13 years of experience and expertise in the fields of trade mark and copyright laws as well as in domain name prosecution and enforcement. Sriram received a bachelor's degree in law from the ILS Law College (University of Pune) and a master's degree (LLM) in intellectual property law from the Franklin Pierce Law Centre (now the University of New Hampshire) in the USA. His experience encompasses a broad range of services in trade mark rights, including advising domestic and international clients on issues related to filing, prosecution, assignments, oppositions and litigation, and appearing for and arguing in contentious matters before the trade marks registry, intellectual property appellate board and high courts. Prior to joining SNA, Sriram was associated with leading law firms in Mumbai and Gurgaon, where he acquired valuable experience in litigating in several jurisdictions in India.
