SOUTHERN OREGON FOOD SOLUTIONS

We, Southern Oregon Food Solutions (SOFS), started out as a group of people who engaged with the curriculum of Project Drawdown - a renowned book by Paul Hawken. Of the solutions presented, we decided to focus on reducing food waste which is ranked #3 as the most effective ways to fight climate change when measures are scaled up. Food waste accounts for 8% of the world's green house gas emissions... This idea of food waste reduction is taking hold all over the country and all over the world. At the recent COP 26 at Glasgow in November 2021, one of the goals agreed upon included a 50% reduction in food waste by 2030 according to the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO).
