Ms. Blackwood initially studied nursing at Forsyth Technical Community College and began working, while continuing her studies to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Ms. Blackwood began her nursing career in critical care nursing at Wake Forest Baptist Health in 1995. She transitioned from critical care to the areas of physical rehabilitation and acquired brain injury while at Wake Forest Baptist Health, while also beginning her career as a Medical Case Manager. Ms. Blackwood has been in the business of medical case management since 1998, obtaining her Certified Case Manager credentials in 2002. Ms. Blackwood possesses a wide range of expertise in injuries, including, but not limited to, the areas of catastrophic injuries, orthopaedics, neurosurgical spine surgery, burn injuries and traumatic amputations.
