Tees Valley Judo was founded in 2020 following the closure of Thornaby Judo Club. Although, primarily a competitive club, we understand and cater for the three aspects to why people get involved with Judo... Self-defence is a total minefield. There are lots of ineffective and fraudulent products out there (although, some great ones) which could do more harm than help. We believe that the morals taught through Judo instil a sense of self-confidence which in essence may reduce the likelihood of conflict as the Judo practitioner will have nothing to prove. However, if forced to defend themselves, we believe the combative skills learnt from Judo, which work on other trained combatants, will suffice against an attacker... Your child is literate, right?
