Se:kon and Skennon ko:wa ken. My name is Kingfish Walks with Wolves (Bradley), and my last name is Gibson. I live in Whitby and I am from the Mohawk nation. My job is the Indigenous Academic Student Advisor and I am studying Mohawk.
For the last 20 years I have worked in the York Region District School Board as a CYW, Performance Plus CYW, and finally for the last 5 years as the First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Student Advisor. David Miller is counsel to the firm's corporate governance practice and also advises on mergers and acquisitions transactions and issues pertaining to regulated industries.
David is an accomplished leader and strategic advisor with more than three decades of legal experience in the communications and media industries. He has expertise in mergers and acquisitions and a wide variety of business and commercial arrangements. Until December 2018, David was the Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer and Secretary of Rogers Communications Inc., a leading Canadian telecommunications provider. He was with Rogers for over 30 years.
David is a member of the Advisory Board of Atlantic Packaging Products Limited where his roles include Chair of the Advisory Board, Chair of the Governance Committee and member of the Audit Advisory Committee. David is also a member of the Board of CI Financial Corp., Canada's largest independent global wealth and asset management company, where he chairs its Governance and Human Resources Committee.
He was also a Director of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd. from 2017-2019 and served on the Audit Committee and Human Resources Committee.
Since 2018, David has been a Distinguished Fellow at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University.
David holds a Bachelor of Civil Law and Bachelor of Common Law from McGill University.

"Hello, my name is Diane Simone (she/her). I am the Indigenous Learning Support Facilitator for TMU Indigenous Student Services. My mother's family identifies as part Mi'kmaq, originally from Saint John, New Brunswick.

Dr. Bala Venkatesh is academic director of the Centre for Urban Energy, and a tenured professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering, at Toronto Metropolitan University. He specializes in electric power systems with interests in transmission and distribution systems, renewables, energy storage and smart grids. He works with many industry partners including Hydro One, Toronto Hydro, the Independent Electricity System Operator, Schneider Electric, and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited. With a Ph.D. from Anna University (India), Dr. Venkatesh is a registered professional engineer in Ontario, Canada. Since 1994, he has also taught at the University of New Brunswick, Multimedia University (Malaysia) and Anna University. Dr. Venkatesh has published extensively in journals and conferences, and has supervised numerous graduate students for masters and PhD degrees.

Dr. Cory Searcy is the assistant vice-president (AVP), international at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). Appointed in 2024, Dr. Searcy furthers the university's goal of increased internationalization by working with a broad range of stakeholders to foster collaboration, build international learning opportunities and drive the recruitment and success of international students based on an understanding of the global landscape and cultural diversity. He supports internationally focused activities in faculties and advance academic, research and social partnerships that align with TMU's values, while driving a strategy to strengthen the university's global presence and reputation.
An accomplished post-secondary leader, Dr. Searcy has been with TMU for more than 15 years. In his previous role as vice-provost and dean, Yeates School of Graduate Studies (YSGS), Dr. Searcy played a critical role in advocating for and implementing TMU graduate scholarships and fourth year PhD funding, and contributed to a new framework for financially supporting international graduate students. He oversaw international graduate student recruitment activities and supervised more than 25 graduate students.
Prior to taking on the role of vice-provost and dean, Dr. Searcy served as associate dean, programs, YSGS where he oversaw the graduate component of the institutional quality assurance process. This included guiding graduate programs through cyclical reviews, new program development, curriculum modifications, and other strategic initiatives. He has also served as program director for both environmental applied science and management as well as industrial engineering.
In 2021, Dr. Searcy co-chaired an internal review of TMU's international units, including TMU Global and recruitment. This included a key focus on increased enrolment of international students and accompanying supports. He has worked closely with teams to strengthen international collaborations, global learning opportunities for domestic students and the university's international rankings and profile.
A well established researcher, Dr. Searcy has published with researchers from the United States, Germany, Denmark, New Zealand, Australia, Turkey, Pakistan, the Netherlands and Italy. Dr. Searcy is a professor in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering with expertise in corporate sustainability, environmental management systems, quality management systems, performance measurement, industrial ecology, and life cycle assessment.

Sloan (Jo) Miller is the Outreach and Recruitment Officer for Toronto Metropolitan University Indigenous Student Services. She is of Mi'kmaq and Celtic ancestry from Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia.
Sloan has been working in the Indigenous helping profession in Toronto and beyond for close to 30 years. She is certified in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction by R.W. Knight, MD and has also spent many years working with the Elders to learn Indigenous teachings and techniques to assist herself and others on their life journey.
