Dr David Rouse

Dr Rouse was a fully accredited Home Office Pathologist for 21 years, practicing from 1988. In 2009 David retired from the Register but maintains his position as a senior forensic pathologist, offering opinions to both the Crown and to the Defence.

Dr Martin Goddard

Job Titles:

Dr Martin Goddard was appointed as a Consultant Histopathologist in 1996 and provides a full range of diagnostic cardio thoracic pathology. Martin is the clinical lead for cardiac pathology including cardiac transplantation. He is a member and the current Secretary of the National Cardiac Pathology Network having been the Chairman from 2012 to 2016. Martin is also the Specialist Adviser to the Royal College of Pathologists on cardiac pathology. Martin's medico-legal work relating to cardiac pathology is extensive and he regularly undertakes autopsies on referred hearts from cases of Sudden Adult Death and for other expert cardiac pathology opinions.

Dr Neil Simpson

Dr Neil Simpson is a Forensic Biologist with over 20 years of experience, specialising in the analysis of body fluids, interpretation of DNA profiles (including complex mixtures and the use of STRmix), blood pattern analysis (including crime scenes), clothing damage and hair comparisons. Dr Simpson has reported all of these evidence types, many times, in reports for court purposes and has regularly attended court and case conference meetings to present scientific evidence. Dr Simpson has reported a variety of case types including murders, rapes and serious assaults and has received recognition for his work in complex cases. Experience Dr Simpson commenced work as a forensic scientist in 1998, training and working at the Forensic Science Service, London, before moving to Forensic Alliance in 2001, then to LGC in 2003 and to Key Forensic Services in 2006. Dr Simpson has been involved in many cases on behalf of the prosecution and the defence, including serious crime and cold case reviews, where he has applied modern scientific techniques to unsolved cases leading to successful investigative advances. Dr Simpson commenced work as a forensic scientist in 1998, training and working at the Forensic Science Service, London, before moving to Forensic Alliance in 2001, then to LGC in 2003 and to Key Forensic Services in 2006. Dr Simpson has been involved in many cases on behalf of the prosecution and the defence, including serious crime and cold case reviews, where he has applied modern scientific techniques to unsolved cases leading to successful investigative advances. Highly experienced in examining cases involving cross-discipline evidence; with expertise in drugs and toxicology as well as forensic biology.

Dr. Ian Littley

Dr Iain Littley is a highly qualified and skilled forensic scientist with over 34 years' experience in forensic chemistry having worked in both the Forensic Science Service (FSS) and the private sector. Iain's work as a forensic scientist includes alcohol technical defence, fire investigation, marks and traces, internal and external client training and quality auditing. Iain is a leading forensic expert with the utmost credibility in his chosen field of forensic chemistry. He has excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines imposed by clients and the Criminal Justice system. Iain is a very dependable expert, particularly in relation to cross-examination. Experience Leading forensic scientist with over 34 years' experience. Forensic expert in all aspects of forensic chemistry including fire and explosion investigation, marks (footwear, glove and tyre), traces and particulates (glass, paint and miscellaneous materials) and flammable liquid analysis. Highly experienced forensic scientist in the field of alcohol technical defence including re-calculating breath or blood alcohol concentrations of persons suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol (previously a Home Office Authorised Analyst). Senior court reporting forensic scientist, with years of experience in conducting laboratory analysis, interpreting evidence and presenting his findings in court. Kieron Podd

Kieron Podd was accused of the murder of Richard Jones, when the use of a knife was instrumental in his death. Evidence was adduced by the Police Crown Fingerprint Expert, who identified certain of the fingerprints of Kieron Podd and Richard Jones on certain positions of the knife. Philip, acting on instructions from Michael Turner QC, reviewed the Crown evidence in the case. He disagreed with the Crown Fingerprint Expert, stating that the position of the fingerprints attributed to Mr Podd indicated that they were more likely left when defending himself and gave evidence to that effect in the trial. This supported the evidence of the accused. Kieron Podd, who was facing life imprisonment, was acquitted by the Jury.

Robert Miller

Rob is also a Member of The Academy of Experts and the Network of Independent Forensic Accountants (NIFA). Rob has over 16 years' experience in practice of which 11 years he has specialised in forensic accounting. Robert joined Edwards Vedeer Chartered Accountants firm in 2001, where he received professional training and general practise experience of small and medium sized businesses, qualifying as a Chartered accountant in 2004.
