Clodagh Howley

Job Titles:

Clodagh is originally from Lisdoonvarna, Co Clare. She joined the practice in 2012. She previously worked in Customer Support in a medical based publishing company for 11 years. Her organisation and customer services skills contribute to a high standard of patient care. Her role in the medical practice is very interesting and varied, helping patients, assisting busy doctors and nursing staff. Patient's needs and requests are her utmost priority. Clodagh is also responsible for the day- to-day administration management of the practice. She has completed the GP Practice Management Course with Alpha Primary Care during which she learned from Alpha's extensive practice knowledge and sharing of experiences with other practices which will be of benefit to the Burren Medical Centre.

Dr Tom Daly

Tom grew up on a farm in Brosna, Co. Kerry. He spent his summers from a young age agri contracting. Tom developed an interest in working with a rural population. His mother was a carer for many elderly people in the community as well as Tom's grandparents in the family home in their later years which helped foster Tom's interest in eldery care. Tom did a degree in UCC in Public Health and Health Promotion graduating with honours in 2012. He spent the next two years working in agri contracting fulltime before pursuing medicine in UL, graduating with honours in 2018. Tom worked in UHL and St Johns hospital before starting GP speciality training in 2019. He worked in UHL in elderly care, emergency medicine, endocrinology and paediatrics. He alsoi worked in psychiatry of later life in Ennis developing an interest in dementia care and designing standardised assessment for same. He also worked in neonatology in the Maternity Hospital Limerick before working in the community in the clare area for the past 18 months. Tom has a keen interest in musculoskeletal medicine being an active sportsperson competing in powerlifting for the past 10 years. He is pursuing further training in joint injection in November with Kingsbridge. He is currently pursuing post level one training via the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP).

Dr. Marese Mannion

Dr Marese Mannion is a native of Parteen, Co Clare. She graduated from The National University of Ireland, Galway 2007 with an honour's degree. After completing her intern year in University Hospital Galway, she became a member of the Royal College of Physicians Ireland working in the specialities of Medicine for the Elderly, Respiratory medicine, Haematology, Neurology and Palliative Care. In 2010 Marese began specialist training in General Practice. During her four years on the Mid-West Specialist Training Programme, she developed a specialist interest in Women's Health and Family Planning. She completed her certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health (ICGP) and she acquired her Advanced Certificate in Long-Acting reversible forms of Contraception. (ICGP) She completed her certificate in Palliative Medicine and in 2014 became a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners. (MICGP) Following this she did her Certification in Women's Health in 2016. (NUIG) Marese has also become involved in undergraduate and post graduate training. She did her certificate in Effective Clinical Teaching in 2014 and became a PBL Tutor with the School of medicine in the University of Limerick since 2018. She is currently a tutor for undergraduate trainees in the Department of General Practice in the University of Limerick. Furthermore, Marese being a keen sports person herself has an interest in musculoskeletal injuries having trained in Acupuncture (BMAS) and Joint injections. Due to her comprehensive training in General Medicine and Care of the Elderly she has a specialist interest in Chronic Disease Management and Preventative Medicine.

Dr. Paraic Meaney

Dr Páraic Meaney is a native of Ballyneety, Co. Limerick. He graduated from University College Cork in 2006 with an honours degree. After completing his intern year in Cork University Hospital, he travelled to Australia and worked in Emergency Medicine in the Northern Hospital in Melbourne. On returning to Ireland, Páraic worked in various specialities including Medicine for the Elderly, General Surgery and Emergency Medicine in University Hospital Galway, Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe and University Hospital Limerick. In 2010 Páraic began specialist training in General Practice. During his four years on the Mid-West Specialist Training Programme, he completed post graduate diplomas in Child Health and Medicine for the Elderly and a Certificate in Palliative Medicine. On completion of the training programme in 2014 he became a Member of the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP). Páraic developed a special interest in sports medicine and completed a Masters Degree in Sport & Exercise Medicine in UniversityCollege Cork in 2011. He was subsequently awarded Fellowship of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (FSEM) in 2017. He also has a special interest in medical education and completed a postgraduate diploma in medical education in the National University of Ireland Galway in 2013. He is currently a tutor for undergraduate trainees in the Department of General Practice in the University of Limerick. Furthermore, Páraic has an interest in substance misuse. He completed the ICGP's Certificate in Substance Misuse in 2014. While doing this certificate he was awarded the ICGP's Best Impact Award for his research Benzodiazepine and Hypnotic Awareness in a General Practice Population.

Emer O Halloran

Emer O'Halloran is from Kinvara, Co. Galway. She graduated from National University ofGalway (NUIG) in 2000 and after completing her nursing studies she worked inUniversity Hospital Galway (UHG) and in Cork's Mercy University Hospital. In2005 she specialised in Oncology Nursing and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Studies (Oncology) in NUIG. In 2007 she moved to Clare and began working as a Practice Nurse in Corofin. She furthered her training by completing aPostgraduate Diploma in Practice Nursing (NUIG) in 2008. Since changing toPractice Nursing, Emer has been an active member of the Practice Nurse Society. Emer has developed a special interest in chronic disease management and in 2012 she completed the Irish College of General Practitioners' Certificate in Diabetes. Furthermore, Emer has an interest in expanding the role ofPractice Nursing and in 2013 she completed University of Limerick's Certificate in Nursing (Nurse Prescribing). Since then she has been a Nurse Prescriber. She is also a registered cervical smear taker with Cervical Check.

Róisín Keane

Róisín Keane is our young and enthusiastic Medical Secretary and qualified Phlebotomist who originates from Kilfenora, Co.Clare. As the youngest and one of the newest members of our team here, she brings a wealth of new and modern efficiencies to our team. With many certifications completed, Róisín is always striving to further educate herself and provide the best experience for our patients. As all our patients know Róisín always strives to provide the best support and patient care. Her day to day role ensures our patients needs are met and prioritised with our team of experienced doctors and nurses.
