Mr. David Stretch is an Illinois attorney focusing his legal practice on bankruptcy law. Attorney Stretch, while operating his own independent law firm in McHenry, Illinois, assists our law firm in an Of Counsel capacity, in matters addressing bankruptcy and business law. With over forty (40) years of legal experience, Attorney Stretch and our law firm are uniquely positioned to help you, your family, and if necessary your business, to navigate even the most complex bankruptcy matters.
Attorney Stretch is a graduate of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and the University of California Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, where he obtained his law degree. While in law school he clerked for two San Francisco law firms. Upon graduation from law school in 1976, he took a position with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City. At the Metropolitan Life, he worked in the group insurance National Accounts division and was assigned responsibility for several major clients, including the American Can Company.
Attorney Stretch possesses an unrivaled multi-jurisdictional legal experience. While working at Metropolitan Life Attorney Stretch took and passed the New York State bar examination in 1978. Then, in 1980, Attorney Stretch moved to Hawaii, where he took and passed the Hawaii State bar examination, while clerking for U.S. District Court Judge Walter Heen. Subsequently, in 1995, Attorney Stretch, took and passed the Illinois State bar examination, and begun practicing the law in the State of Illinois.
Early in his legal career, Attorney Stretch worked for several Honolulu law firms, focusing on insurance law. In 1987, he took a position as the Director of the Hawaii Institute for Continuing Legal Education, developing and presenting educational programs for the Hawaii State Bar Association. After moving to Illinois, he worked as a Director of National Institutes in the Legal Education Department of the American Bar Association. Next, Attorney Stretch worked with the Florida based firm of Holland & Knight as its in-house director of attorney training. The experience with the ABA and Holland & Knight led him to a position with one of the largest, multinational law firms Baker & McKenzie, where he worked as the Director of Training for the firm's North American offices.
