Potassium formate, (HCO2K, or "K4M8"), is the non-halide (zero chlorides), potassium salt of formic acid. K4M8 is a strongly hygroscopic white solid with high solubility in water, forming a brine of 75% by weight of HCO2K, with an SG of 1.582, or 13.179 lb/gal.
