J. Benjamin Limehouse

Job Titles:
  • of Counsel
  • Member of the Globe Repertory Company
Ben Limehouse was raised in rural North Carolina in his maternal grandparent's home, and though he didn't know it at the time, their influence set the stage for his practicing elder law. Ben frequently played music in nursing homes and rest homes in Rutherford County with other local musicians. He enjoyed sharing his love for music with the elderly, as it brought smiles to their faces. His first career out of college was in education. Ben spent ten years as a public school teacher in Rutherford County, NC. He taught mathematics, classical logic, Latin, coached high school quiz bowl and served as a first respondent for sports teams. Ben Limehouse began law school at Wake Forest University in 2011. During his time at Wake Law, Ben was a student attorney in the Elder Law Clinic, for which he won and was awarded the CALI award for excellence. There he met Director, Kate Mewhinney, who served as a mentor during his time at Wake Law and remains a good friend today. Ben became acquainted with Bailey Liipfert and began working with Bailey and his firm as an intern the summer after his second year at WFU. At some point that summer, he sat in on a long term care consultation with Bailey and something clicked; Ben knew what area of law he wanted to practice. Ben enjoys this concentration of law for a few reasons. First it's like doing a puzzle. No two clients have the same needs, and you have to figure out the best way to solve the puzzle. Also, he loves working with families, and sees the practice of elder law, special needs law and estate planning as a continuation of his teaching career. Ben earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts at Thomas Aquinas College and a J.D. from Wake Forest University. Ben divides his time between Winston Salem and Lattimore, North Carolina. Since 1996. Ben has been a member of the Globe Repertory Company and has worked as an actor and vocalist on both professional and amateur stages, from Shakespeare to opera to modern musical theater. Ben's hobbies include: music of all genres, from opera to folk, hiking the mountains of North Carolina, travel, reading, ACC basketball (Carolina), playing tennis, exploring used bookshops and record stores and searching for the next great plate of barbecue. Ben was raised in rural North Carolina in his maternal grandparent's home, and though he didn't know it at the time, their influence set the stage for his practicing elder law.
