Michelle Hahn focuses exclusively on family law matters, especially matters including complex child custody visitation issues. She has extensive experience in high-conflict custody matters as well as the legal aspects of marital dissolutions, legal separations, annulments, registered domestic partnership dissolutions, Uniform Parentage Actions (paternity), custody (pre and post judgment), high-conflict custody, third party custody rights (grandparents and other non-parents), move-away cases, stepparent adoptions, adult adoptions, and domestic violence.
Micelle is also formally trained in litigation, mediation, and collaborative methods. She helps guide clients through their many available options, and she understands that each family's situation is unique when providing a strategy to best meet their goals.
Family law is Michelle's second chosen career. She holds a B.S. in physics as well as an M.B.A. With 14 years as a hi-tech engineering and management professional and over 17 years of family law experience, Michelle brings maturity, empathy and practicality to bear in her practice.
Michelle is very involved in the local family law legal community and has served on the Sacramento County Bar Association Board of Directors and Sacramento County Family Law Executive Committee. She is a member of several local county family law sections as well as Women Lawyers of Sacramento. Michelle is active in developing and reviewing proposed family law legislation and has served as a Conference of California Bar Associations Delegate since 2006.
Matthew K. Purcell is a Shareholder of Purcell Stowell. He has been recognized as a Certified Family Law Specialist by the California State Bar Association's Board of Legal Specialization since 2011. Matt was the youngest CFLS in California at the time he received this prestigious recognition of expertise in the field.
Matt has more than a decade of experience handling a range of family law issues, as well as guardianships and juvenile dependency. Offering broad expertise to his clients, Matt has handled everything from intricate property and support issues to complex custody issues involving allegations of sexual and physical abuse, domestic violence, parental alienation, and relocations.
Michelle Stowell is a Shareholder of Purcell Stowell PC Family Law Attorneys. As a Certified Family Law Specialist and a California Family Law Mediator, she has the knowledge and flexibility to tailor legal strategies and solutions to her clients' unique circumstances.
Focusing exclusively on family law since 2003, Michelle initially practiced eight years with Downey Brand LLP, where she acquired extensive knowledge of complex family law issues, including marriage dissolution, custody, child and spousal support, business valuations, and other community property issues. Michelle then served clients as a solo practitioner until 2016 when she formed Folsom-based family law boutique Forester Purcell Stowell.
Michelle received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis; her Master of Arts degree from Georgetown University; and her Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law with Great Distinction, where she was ranked 6th in her class.
