Dr. Yuehong (Maria) Chen Foley

Yuehong (Maria) Chen Foley has a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Counseling Practice from Georgia State University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She has published numerous research articles in the field of child-parent-relationship therapy and play therapy. She has given multiple presentations in national and international conferences about parenting and counseling. She has been conducting parent-child-relationship training since 2002, and provided child counseling and teacher training in Gwinnett County Public Schools from 2003 to 2010. In the summer of 2008, Dr. Chen Foley volunteered and provided mental health services in the areas affected by the May 12th China earthquake, and trained over 300 professionals to use her Yuehong Sandplay Encouragement Method. Her program received national and international media attention. Three dissertations researched and validated the effectiveness of this program in a Chinese elementary school. She is a Guest Professor in Sichuan Normal University. She is a member of the Association for Play Therapy (APT), the Georgia Association for Play Therapy (GAPT), and the Georgia School Counselor Association (GSCA). She is fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese).
