SMBNEP

SMBNEP is one of 28 National Estuary Programs created by Congress in 1987 under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act to restore and protect these coastal waters. Each locally based National Estuary Program consists of diverse stakeholders and develops yearly work plans, building consensus around local, state, and federal actions to improve the health of our estuaries. SMBNEP is comprised of and implemented by two distinct entities: Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission (non-regulatory Management Conference) and The Bay Foundation (non-profit Host Entity)... Santa Monica Bay National Estuary Program is one of the United States Environmental Protection Agency's 28 National Estuary Programs, dedicated to protecting and restoring water quality and the ecological integrity of estuaries of national significance.
