Dr Matthew Cosgrave is a Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine. A graduate of Medicine from Queen's University Belfast in 2011, Dr Cosgrave undertook an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at The University of Bath before completing specialty training in General Practice in Belfast in 2018. Dr Cosgrave worked as a general practitioner with a specialist interest in musculoskeletal and sports team care and as a specialty doctor in pre-hospital medicine before moving to Dublin to complete Higher Specialty Training in Sports and Exercise Medicine in Ireland. Dr Cosgrave has an extensive background in elite and international sport both as an athlete and as team physician. He has been Team Doctor to The Irish Women's Rugby Team since 2019 and serves as a Medical Officer to Connacht Rugby Senior Men's Team. Previous team physician roles include Team Doctor to Team NI at The 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games, Team Doctor to The Irish Football Association and Medical Officer to The Belfast Giants Ice Hockey Team, Louth GAA, Linfield Football Club and Ulster Rugby Schools. Dr Cosgrave represented Northern Ireland and Ireland internationally over a 20-year career history in Men's Artistic Gymnastics, competing at multiple Commonwealth Games, World and European Championships Dr Cosgrave has been an active member of The Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine since 2018 and is currently the co-chair of the educational committee. He has an interest in elite athlete health and performance, injury surveillance and team dynamics in high performance.

Mr Mullett is actively involved in research and leads a research team involved in clinical and biomechanical research. He is also involved in research to improve outcomes following shoulder surgery particularly in return to play following athletic injuries. He has performed biomechanical research in conjunction with R.C.S.I., U.C.D., and Trinity College and has helped evaluate orthopaedic implants and techniques. He is also involved in designing orthopaedic implants. He lectures regularly both nationally and internationally. Mr Maurice O'Flaherty MSc (Sports Med) FRCSEd (Tr & Ortho) is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in Foot & Ankle Surgery, Trauma Surgery and Sports injuries. He graduated in Medicine (MB BCh BaO) at Queens University Belfast in 2002, going on to follow a surgical career path, gaining a place on the Northern Ireland Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training scheme in 2007. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (Trauma & Orthopaedics) in 2012 and went on to take up a place on the prestigious Surrey Foot and Ankle Fellowship in London. Mr O'Flaherty has also graduated from the University of Bath, England, gaining a Masters of Science degree in Sports & Exercise Medicine. He spent time training with doctors and allied health professionals from all aspects of sport and exercise medicine, including Premier League Football and Rugby Union. He works with many high-level sportspersons including GAA players, Ulster Rugby, Ulster Hockey, NI Netball and Irish League Soccer. He is a Consultant in the Royal Victoria Hospita l and Musgrave Park Hospital Belfast, being a member of the on-call Trauma team in the former, which is a designated Major Trauma Centre. Mr Colin Riordan

Mr Colin Riordan is a consultant hand and plastic surgeon whose main area of practice is hand and wrist surgery including arthroscopic surgery. Mr Riordan graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1996. Following completion of basic surgical training he travelled to the USA to complete a research fellowship at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. His research, which focused primarily on denervated wound healing won many awards including the Ortho McNeill Outstanding Young Investigator Award 2001, Glancy Bowl Award (Perpetual Silver Bowl) and the Gasper W. Anastasi Award. On return to Ireland he completed his higher surgical training in Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery sitting the FRCSI(plast) examination in 2007. He then undertook further fellowships in hand and wrist surgery at the Pulvertaft Hand Unit in Derby, UK, in Malmö, Sweden and Stockholm, Sweden (Plastic Surgery). Mr Riordan returned to Ireland in 2008 and commenced practice as a hand surgeon in Blackrock Clinic, initially joining and then taking over Mr John Varian's hand surgery practice on his retirement. Mr Riordan was secretary of the Irish Hand Surgery Society from 2010-2015 and continues to present and lecture at hand surgery meetings both in Ireland and internationally. He has published numerous peer review articles in the surgical literature.

Mr Neil Burke is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in hip and knee surgery. Neil specialises in computer navigated total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, total hip replacement and sports knee Injuries. He is also a Consultant at Beaumont Hospital and Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital. Neil completed a highly regarded lower limb reconstruction fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand. After graduating with honors from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy ‘Victor Babes' Timisoara, Romania Mihai moved to Dublin where he completed his Specialty Training in Orthopaedic Surgery in RCSI. Ms Ann-Maria Byrne is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and upper limb specialist. She has a special interest in elbow, wrist and hand surgery, including open and arthroscopic surgery. Ann-Maria graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2001. During her undergraduate years, she spent time studying in surgery in the Mayo Clinic Rochester Minnesota, USA and following receiving first class honours in medicine and surgery, she was awarded the Johnston-Willis Scholarship to study in Richmond, Virginia, USA. During her postgraduate training, she completed the RCSI Irish National Training Programme in Trauma and Orthoapedics. She went on to fellowship training at the Wrightington Upper Limb Unit, UK where she was exposed to a range of upper limb problems and their surgical management. She continued her fellowship training at the Antwerp Orthopaedic Centre, Belgium where she trained in the treatment of hand, wrist and forearm injuries. Paul Dobbelaar is a Sports & Exercise Physician and Human Movement Scientist from the Netherlands. He graduated as MSc in Human Movement Science from Maastricht University in 1990 with a Master thesis in altitude physiology. In 1995 he completed his medical training at Maastricht University. Dr Dobbelaar trained as Sports Physician from 1996 until 2000 in Veldhoven, Heerlen and at the Dutch National Sports Centre Papendal. Dr Dobbelaar has worked in his own sport medical practice in the South of the Netherlands since 2005. He has a broad experience in elite sports having worked as team doctor to the Dutch Climbing and Alpine Club, the Royal Dutch Cycling Union and the Dutch Triathlon Federation as well as Dutch Basketball championship winning team EBBC/Libertel Dolphins. He was Head of the Medical Staff of the first professional football club in the Netherlands, Fortuna Sittard from 2005-2010. Dr Dobbelaar has a special interest in overuse sports injuries and exercise physiology, especially in relation to fatigue and diminished exercise capacity.
