Avrohom Eliezer Friedman - CIO

Dr. Alan Brown

If you've ever wondered what you call an alligator detective (an investi-gator), you'll instantly hit it off with Dr. Brown. He has a corny sense of humor and is proud of it! A bibliophile with a keen understanding of human nature, Dr. Brown is passionate about the power of narrative.

Dr. Allan Jacob - President

Dr. Jacob's name has become synonymous with Jewish education and has been involved with YTCTE and its Board since its beginning. He has a Masters Degree in mental health and marital counseling and is a board-certified nephrologist who serves as the Chairman and Chief Medical Officer of Physicians Dialysis. His commitment to the community and to Torah learning is legendary, and as the Chairman of Teach Florida, he has helped YTCTE, and all South Florida Jewish schools, secure millions of dollars in government funding. Dr. Jacob also serves as the Chairman of the Rabbinical Seminary of America (Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim).

Dr. Daniel Heller

Dr. Heller's history with the Yeshiva is multi-generational. His father is a past-president, and he attended YTCTE as a child, as did his wife whose father is the current Vice-President. Her grandfather, Rabbi Dovid Lehrfield zt"l, played an integral role in founding and growing the Yeshiva. Although his position as Pulmonary and Critical Care Specialist and Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center keeps him quite busy, Dr. Heller is committed to strengthening the Torah community. He is the President of the Young Israel of Greater Miami and is a Board Member of Tomchei Shabbos of Florida. His sharp analytical mind and determination to keep the Yeshiva on firm grounds play a crucial role in the Yeshiva's ability to maintain a balanced budget.

Dr. Eli Berman

A physician with over 30 years experience practicing medicine and close to 20 years as an administrative physician, Dr. Berman's success can be credited in part to his personable nature and his passion to help others. He has served in a leadership position for 30 years and his results-driven, measured approach guides him as the Chief Medical Officer of CGS and in his communal leadership roles. He is one of the founders of the Hollywood Community Kollel, investing much effort into its success. Dr. Berman has been on the Yeshiva's Board since 2013, focusing on improving procedures and management.

Dr. Jonathan Rubin

Long-time resident of Miami Beach, Dr. Rubin is a well-respected, Board Certified radiologist at Radiology Associates of South Florida with forty years of experience in the field. Yet, he is equally known for his active and extensive involvement in the Klal and the leadership roles he has taken in the South Florida Torah community. Dr. Rubin was instrumental in the founding of the Vaad HaKashrus of Miami-Dade (Kosher Miami) and currently serves as its Vice President. He is also the decades-long President of the Agudath Israel of Florida which, under his leadership, has procured significant funding for our Yeshiva and our community. Dr. Rubin joined the Board of YTCTE in 1991, seeing it as an opportunity to help Klal Yisroel. In 2013, he saw the need to revamp the Board spending countless hours creating an active and involved Board of Directors, with financial accountability, for which he served as the President from 2013-2017.

Dr. Mordechai Gibber

Dr. Gibber, a highly trained, board certified cardiothoracic surgeon, received his medical degree from the University of Maryland. He is currently in private practice and affiliated with Aventura Hospital. He joined the Yeshiva family as parents in 2017 when he moved to Miami Beach with his family and has been involved with the Yeshiva since. Hard working and dependable, Dr. Gibber became a member of the Board in 2018 and has passionately been a champion of affordable, quality Jewish education.

Dr. Raphael Yechieli

An Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology, Dr. Yechieli works at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and as the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Jackson Memorial Hospital where his care and dedication to his patients is evident every day. Yet equal to it, and perhaps even more so, is his unending dedication to his family and his community. His passion to help others has spurred him to participate in Bike 4 Friendship and in RCCS fundraisers. Dr. Yechieli is a member of the Board of Shaarey Tefilah and is actively involved in the Yeshiva, devoting much of his valuable time and expertise to serve as a member of our Executive Board.

Dr. Tuvia Peppard

An experienced Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist, Dr. Peppard is the Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services at Mercy Hospital. His dedication to helping others and his care and concern for each individual, and the community at large, are evident in both his professional success and his communal involvement. Dr. Peppard joined the YTCTE Board in 1990, when his children were young students at YTCTE and remains committed to the Yeshiva now as a proud grandparent. In addition, he has been on the Board of many community institutions including the Miami Beach Community Kollel, Congregation Ohr Chaim, Agudas Yisroel of South Florida, Bais Yaakov of Miami and Kosher Miami.

A volunteer with Tomchei Shabbos of Miami who also serves as the organization's financial controller, Mr. Kolodny is passionate about using his professional abilities to benefit the community.

Mr. Ely Levy

A founding partner in the law firm Levy and Partners, PLLC, Mr. Ely Levy is a respected attorney and equally respected community leader. A Board Member and pillar of the Safra Synagogue, as well as one of the founders of Ohr HaTorah Yeshiva High School, he joined YTCTE's Board in 2017 to help spread Torah even further in the community. Mr. Levy's involvement in YTCTE has helped the Yeshiva strengthen its education and expand its programming.

Mr. Ephraim Herschmann

Mr. Joseph Saka

For more than 20 years, Joseph Saka has provided financial planning, tax consulting and business advice as a partner at Berkowitz Pollack Brant Advisors +CPAs. Motivated and committed, he joined the Board of YTCTE in 2018 to use his extensive business knowledge and experience to help guide and advise the Yeshiva as its budget expanded along with its tremendous growth. Mr. Saka's community involvement at the Board level extends to mosdos throughout South Florida including the Miami Beach Community Kollel, the Shul of Bal Harbour, Shaare Ezra Sephardic Congregation and Yeshiva Elementary School, often working behind the scenes to help strengthen each institution.

Mr. Marc Agenor

Mr. Marcos Lapciuc - President

Mr. Lapciuc is the Managing Partner of Skylightholdings LLC and has over thirty year experience in international trade and real estate. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Law Degree from the University of Miami. He has expertly served as Treasurer for Urgent Inc, Treasurer and Chairman of the Miami Dade Public Health Trust and is a member of the Board of Florida International University Medical Health Practice. In addition to his professional work, Marcos is extensively involved in the community as Board Member of the Miami Beach Community Kollel, past Board Member of Congregation Ohr Chaim and Past President of the Collegiate Learning Exchange. Mr. Lapciuc joined the Yeshiva's Board in 2014 to make a difference in the Jewish community. He currently serves as its President where his extensive experience in real estate, project management and fiscal responsibility has helped spearhead the Yeshiva's largest ever capital campaign.

Mr. Mayer Rosenberg

Mr. Rosenberg is a long-time parent in YTCTE as well as a husband of one of KES's popular Morahs. He has a degree in accounting and has been working in the healthcare industry for many years. Currently the Director of Purchasing at Centers Healthcare, he joined YTCTE's Board in 2014 to use the skills and experiences he has acquired in his field to help the Yeshiva. Focused and dedicated, he has the ability to see the whole picture while at the same time zone in on areas that can be more efficient. Mr. Rosenberg has also served on the Board of various community organizations including Congregation Shaarey Tefilah, Kollel Zichron Michel of NMB and Tomchei Shabbos.

Mr. Michael Chesal

Always on the move, Mr. Chesal uses his skills and talents, not only in the professional world, but also to help the community. Michael graduated the University of Miami School of Law cum laude, is certified by the Florida Bar in Intellectual Property Law and is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator. Yet, he still finds the time to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Aish South Florida and as President of Bais Medrash of South Florida. As a member of the Yeshiva's Board, Mr. Chesal's legal advice continues to be an invaluable guide to YTCTE.

Mr. Nicholas Magyar

Always optimistic and enthusiastic, Mr. Magyar is a natural in the classroom. His easy going nature and ability to foster a sense of trust with his students allow him to create strong relationships with each student encouraging them to succeed. In addition to his experience as an elementary school teacher, both in public and private schools, Mr. Magyar coached college basketball for four years.

Mr. Robert Moskovitz

Mr. Moskovitz is a long time member of the South Florida Torah community. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in both Science and French Literature, but devotes much of his time to helping community mosdos and local families. He is very involved with the Miami Beach Community Kollel and has served as a member of the Yeshiva's Tuition Committee for many years. When approached by Rabbi Akiva Grunblatt, Mr. Moskovitz agreed to join the YTCTE Board in its very early years and has been involved with and learning at the Yeshiva ever since.

Mr. Ronald Miles

Building bridges, enriching lives, that is Mr. Miles. A conscientious, well-educated, international teacher, he has degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, International and Intercultural Education, amongst others. He is a lifelong learner and a Phd candidate investigating the intersections between language, literacy, and culture and pedagogical implications for teaching english to speakers of other languages. Mr. Miles has taught students, throughout the world, at all stages from preschool through college and served as a curriculum leader, education consultant and school principal.

Dedicated and determined, Mrs. Chames Cohen is driven by her passionate desire to help the Yeshiva and her sense of responsibility to the community she has been involved in for so many years. A partner in the law firm of Kluger, Kaplan, Silverman, Katzen & Levine, PL, she has been ranked as one of the top Marital and Family Law Attorneys in Florida and uses her expert mediation skills to help the Yeshiva navigate complex situations and agreements professionally and equitably. In addition to serving on the Yeshiva's Executive Board, Mrs. Chames is on the Editorial Board of the Orthodox Union Jewish Action Magazine.

Mrs. Miriam Deitsch brought over twelve years of classroom teaching, including special education, with her when she assumed the role of Assistant Principal for the Girls Division of the Klurman Elementary School in 2016. She is currently the beloved principal for the Girls Division. Before joining YTCTE as a secular studies teacher in 2012, Mrs. Deitsch was a well-liked teacher in New York where she taught both Limudei Kodesh and secular studies in Yeshiva Darchei Torah, Beth Jacob Beth Miriam Day School and the Queens Gymnasium. She was also an administrative assistant for a number of years in T.A.G. of Far Rockaway. Mrs. Deitsch has extensive training in Responsive Classroom and has been trained in Kagan Cooperative Learning. Mrs. Deitsch is passionate about building a class community and having each child do their personal best. She cares deeply about each girl and makes sure to personally know each student and their family so that she can help them develop their unique strengths. Mrs. Deitsch has initiated new programs in the Girls Division to promote good middos, encourage positive relationships, and make learning come alive all while laying the foundation for the girls to grow into beautiful Bnos Yisroel.

Mrs. Talia Levine is the Director of Esformes Early Childhood Center at Yeshiva Toras Chaim Toras Emes. After teaching in various special education settings, she began working for YTCTE in 2012 as a resource room, and then classroom, elementary school teacher before becoming the Assistant Director of Early childhood. Mrs. Levine graduated with honors from New York University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in education, and has a Master's Degree from the Teachers College of Columbia University. She is certified by the State of Florida to teach both general education and special education and is a licensed childcare and education director. Under Mrs. Levine's leadership, the Early Childhood has earned the reputation of being a cutting edge, yet warm, preschool. As its Director, Mrs. Levine is tasked with developing and overseeing its curriculum and programming, supporting teachers, parents and students, as well as its admission decisions. She is constantly exploring the latest methodology to provide her young students with the foundational skills to become lifelong learners. As the first administrator many parents meet, Mrs. Levine's warm smile coupled with her professionalism and experience, put new families at ease, confident in their decision to send their young child to YTCTE.

Rabbi Aryeh Winter

A beloved rebbe, Rabbi Winter is a natural at connecting with the high school boys in a way that no one else can. He leads by example, arriving early at the yeshiva every morning - sometimes at 3am! - to prepare for class. His expectation of excellence from his boys inspire talmidim to deliver at the highest caliber. As Mashgiach, Rabbi Winter oversees the running of the entire Bais Medrash program, recruiting bochurim and then guiding them in their limud Torah and personal growth. His expectations of excellence motivates the talmidim and Rebbeim to excel producing Bnei Torah of the highest caliber. Rabbi Winter is known for taking care of the whole talmid, focusing not only on their needs within the Bais Medrash, but also on whatever they may need, or want, outside of the Bais Medrash as well.

Arguably one of North Miami Beach's best kept secrets, Rabbi Luban is a brilliant talmid chacham who is respected by all who meet him. So treasured is he by his talmidim around the globe, that his relocation to Miami sparked enormous growth in Bais Medrash Zichron Ezra. Rabbi Luban received Semicha from Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim and joined YTCTE after a 14-year tenure as Rosh HaYeshiva in Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim Jerusalem. As the Maggid Shiur in our most advanced Bais Medrash Shiur, Rabbi Luban has earned a reputation for being a talmid chacham with razor sharp clarity. His relocation to Miami was the catalyst for enormous growth in our Bais Medrash Zichron Ezra as talmidim are drawn to him from across the globe. He is respected for his vast Torah knowledge and the hadracha (guidance) he provides each of his talmidim, many of whom maintain their relationship long after they leave the walls of the Yeshiva Bais Medrash.

He's known for his ability to infuse davening with excitement and he has a knack for making Holocaust curriculum relevant to today's students. Rabbi Deitsch

Rabbi Deitsch spends his days and nights taking care of the needs of the dormitory students. His job is to create a safe and comfortable home environment for the talmidim. He takes great care in providing them with proper entertainment and in making sure that all their physical needs are met so they can succeed both in the classroom and outside of school. His attentiveness and constant care ensures happy talmidim who thrive in their home away from home.

Rabbi Eli Mann

Whether he's strumming the guitar or cooking up new, crazy, fun-filled ideas to help his students cultivate their thirst for Torah, Rabbi Mann is known for his creative, spontaneous approach to teaching. For a full listing of our extraordinary staff, see our Staff Bio page. Rabbi Ephraim Palgon, our South Campus Head of School, was also the founding principal of the Rohr Middle School. His extensive experience in chinuch began well before he moved to Miami in 1996, and includes being a Rebbe in the Talmudical Institute of Upstate New York, a sixth grade Rebbe at YTCTE, the principal of Torah Academy of Boca Raton as well as Head Counselor of Camp Mogen Avraham. Rabbi Palgon Learned in Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim and earned his semicha from HaRav Ephraim Greenblatt zt"l. He attended Adelphi University Graduate School for Special Education and is licensed by CAJE. In addition, he is a trained consultant for the Association of Independent Schools of Florida and a coach for the Franklin Covey Leader in Me schools. Recognizing the need to strengthen the Yeshiva's ties with our closest partners, our parents, Rabbi Palgon stepped away from his position as RMS Principal in order to completely focus on his expanded role as Head of School. One of his primary goals is to build relationships with all of our YTCTE parents as the Yeshiva B"H continues to grow. In addition, he continues to serve as mentor and advisor to our other menahelim who all benefit from his years of expertise and experience in chinuch habanim and his ability to keenly assess even the most complex situations.

Rabbi Gavriel Grossman

Defined by his patience and ability to make anyone smile, Rabbi Grossman is the middos ‘mascot' of the elementary division. When he's not tending to his duties as Principal, he's Middos Moish, visiting the classrooms and emphasizing the importance of exercising their most important muscle: their middos muscle! Rabbi Gavriel Grossman moved with his family to Hollywood in 2011, to become a Rebbe in the Klurman Elementary School ultimately transitioning into the Assistant Principal, and then Principal of the Boys Division. Rabbi Grossman learned in the Talmudic Institute of Upstate New York earning a Bachelor's Degree in Talmudic Law. He learned in Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim of Queens where he received his semicha. Rabbi Harayl Askotzky, the Chief Administrative Officer, has been with the Yeshiva since 2006. A Certified Public Accountant, with many years of accounting experience, Rabbi Askotzky holds a degree from Touro College and semicha from Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim where he learned for many years. Rabbi Askotzky runs a well-established private accounting business and has extensive experience as a grant writer as well. Rabbi Askotzky's position in YTCTE has grown tremendously over the years as he assumed more responsibilities and expanded his role. He manages the day to day operations of the non-educational staff including the Admission Office, Financial Office, Development Office and the IT Department. In addition, he oversees vendor contracts, government funding and grants as well as the Yeshiva's health insurance plans. Rabbi Askotzky's organizational skills and work ethic help create and refine the necessary systems that help the Yeshiva run smoothly and efficiently at all times.

Rabbi Palgon, who claims to have coined the phrase "No Child Left Behind" decades before President George W. Bush popularized it, is known for his dedication to helping every student succeed. For the past 35 years, he's also devoted several weeks of each summer to Camp Mogen Avrohom, as a member of the administrative team. Rabbi Mordechai Palgon has been an integral member of the Yeshiva Toras Chaim Toras Emes family since 1994, shortly after receiving semicha from Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim. Initially serving as High School Assistant Principal and Rebbe, Rabbi Palgon continued to assume additional responsibilities as he became Principal and ultimately one of the three Roshei HaYeshiva. Rabbi Moshe Bernstein returned to his roots when he moved to South Florida with his family in 2010, to become the Chief Financial Officer of Yeshiva Toras Chaim Toras Emes. A Certified Public Accountant with an accounting degree from Touro College, he interned with some of the best in the field of education finance including Aaron Kotler, CEO of Bais Medrash Govoha of Lakewood, Richard Hagler, executive Director of H.A.L.B. and Dr. Allan Jacob. Prior to joining YTCTE, after learning in Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim (Rabbinical Seminary of America) for twelve years, Rabbi Bernstein assumed a position in its administration gaining real life training in the field. Rabbi Lehrfield's relationship with YTCTE dates back to its infancy, and his decades-long involvement in the North Miami Beach community has played an instrumental role in its growth and vibrancy. Rabbi Lehrfield is a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig PA and has been an attorney specializing in commercial real estate transactions, financing and leasing at their firm since 1990, earning numerous awards and recognitions throughout. In addition he is an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law, received a very rare semicha from Rabbi Betzalel Zoly z"l, former Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, served as the assistant Rabbi of the Young Israel of Greater Miami and was a member of Bais Yaakov of Miami's Board. His prestigious professional position notwithstanding, Rabbi Lehrfield devotes a significant portion of his day to learning and community work, joining the Yeshiva's Board early on at the request of our founding Rosh HaYeshiva, Rabbi Bentzion Chait. He currently serves as a Member of the Yeshiva's Executive Board as well as the Vice President of the Board of Directors.

Rabbi Tzvi Fladen became the first Mashgiach of the Klurman Elementary School in 2020 and now oversees both KES and RMS. Rabbi Fladen learned by Rav Tzvi Kaplan in Eretz Yisroel for four years before moving to Lakewood where he eventually became one of the founding members of Rav Gershon Ribner's Kollel. He then moved to North Miami Beach to join Kollel Zichron Michel, giving numerous shiurim over his five years there. Before joining YTCTE, Rabbi Fladen was a Shoel U'meshiv for a year in Yeshiva Tiferes Torah of Boca Raton. Rabbi Fladen brings a passion and commitment that enables him to elevate the entire ruach of the Yeshiva. Rabbi Yair Silverstein joined the DACHS administrative team in 2021, as its new General Studies Principal, moving to Miami from Detroit. Rabbi Silverstein earned his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Bellevue University and received semicha from Bais Medrash L'Torah (Hebrew Theological College). In addition to studying in the Kollel of the Skokie Yeshiva, he served as a Rebbe in their kodesh department. Subsequently, he became a Rebbe and Activities Director at Farber Hebrew Day School of Detroit. Rabbi Silverstein has successfully worked on curriculum planning and trained as a teacher's mentor through the Jewish New Teacher Project. Rabbi Silverstein's friendly and engaging personality has made him a popular Rebbe whose students stay in touch long after they leave his classroom. Rabbi Zev Weiner originally moved with his family from Dallas, Texas in 2013, to become a Rebbe in the Rohr Middle School, eventually becoming the RMS Assistant Principal. He has since assumed the position as the Yeshiva's Director of Facilities of the South Campus where his expert and efficient management skills are used to ensure that the Yeshiva runs smoothly each day. Rabbi Weiner received semicha from Ner Yisroel Rabbinical College before joining the Cincinnati Community Kollel. Subsequently, he taught at the Torah Day School of Dallas for nine years. Rabbi Weiner was also a popular Division Head in Camp Mogen Avrohom. Rabbi Weiner is known for his sense of responsibility and dedication to the Yeshiva and is often one of the first to arrive and last to leave. Rabbi Weiner utilizes his many talents to expertly and efficiently provide a safe, clean and well maintained campus for everyone at YTCTE. This includes maintaining the South Campus buildings, overseeing any necessary repairs or construction, and managing the security, janitorial and maintenance staff.
