Alan Willis

Alan Willis has since 1991 been an independent researcher, writer and advisor on corporate performance measurement and reporting beyond what financial statements alone reveal, and the implications of such reporting for governance, control and assurance. By profession a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant, and a partner in one of the Big Four accounting firms earlier in his career, he became a pioneer in the development and implementation first of sustainability reporting and later of integrated reporting. Alan was a member of the founding Steering Committee of the Global Reporting Initiative from 1997 to 2002, whose first sustainability reporting guidelines (now standards) were issued in 2000, and he also chaired GRI's Verification Working Group from 1999 to 2002. He was a member of the Working Group of the International Integrated Reporting Council which developed the IIRC's 2013 Integrated Reporting Framework, and of the original Advisory Council of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board. He has served on the Integrated Business Reporting Committee of the International Corporate Governance Network, the Technical Working Group of the Climate Disclosure Standards Board, the Sustainability Advisory Board of CPA Canada and the advisory committee of the Ontario Securities Commission for its 2010 guidance on environmental disclosures. Alan served on the Release Council of the Future Fit Foundation since April, 2015. Among the many publications and studies he has undertaken on sustainability are CPA Canada's Briefings for Directors on Climate Change and Environmental and Social Issues which he co-authored, and his paper on "Transforming Corporate Reporting" for the 2007 Summit of the Corporation 2020 initiative. Alan was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal awarded by Canada's Governor General in 2012 in recognition of his thought leadership and contributions in Canada and internationally to accounting for sustainable development. In 2017 he was awarded Fellowship in the accounting profession, largely in recognition of his leadership and contributions in the fields of sustainability reporting as well as broader aspects of business reporting and governance.

Aldyen Donnelly

Alice Chapple

Alice Chapple is an economist and a specialist in impact investment and impact assessment. She established Impact Value in October 2012. She has spent her career working to find ways in which companies and investors can have a meaningful impact beyond financial returns. In recent months, Alice has worked with funds to design impact assessment frameworks for investments in ‘inclusive' or pro-poor businesses; with commercial companies to evaluate their impact in developing countries; with foundations to assess the impact of their portfolios; and with NGOs to explore the structural barriers that exist to prevent capital flowing to areas that create the most positive social and environmental impacts. Before establishing Impact Value, Alice worked as Director of Sustainable Financial Markets at Forum for the Future. She worked on projects exploring the scope for innovative financial instruments, more effective valuation techniques, better risk assessment, and longer-term investment strategies. Prior to Forum for the Future, she worked for many years at UK development finance institution CDC as financial analyst, fund manager and social and environmental advisor. Alice is also a Director of a not-for-profit organisation established to align capital markets with efforts to tackle climate change. The first project is the Carbon Tracker Initiative. Alice has an MA in Economics from Cambridge University and is a chartered accountant.

Andy Howard

Andy is the Head of Sustainable Research at Schroders Investment Management. In that role, Andy is responsible for strengthening Schroder's analysis of key sustainability trends and their implications for investors. Previously, Andy founded Didas Research, an independent research firm focused on providing long term and sustainable investment advice. He also spent six years with Goldman Sachs, where he was a Managing Director and responsible for building the GS SUSTAIN global research product. Andy has also worked with McKinsey in New York where he advised financial institutions and was involved in the firm's Business in Society work, with development focused NGO Global Witness a and as a mining analyst with Dresdner Kleinwort Benson and Deutsche Bank, where he was twice voted Europe's leading analyst in the sector. Andy earned a BSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics and has an MBA from INSEAD.

Bindiya Patel

Michael Gillenwater co-founded the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute, and serves as its Dean and Executive Director. Dr. Gillenwater is a leading expert on climate change and renewable energy, with a specific focus on greenhouse gas (GHG) measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) issues. He has dedicated his career to the development of the policies and infrastructure needed to produce highly credible environmental information that can serve as the basis of market and other compliance mechanisms, especially monitoring and verification policies and management and reporting systems for GHGs and ecosystem services. Michael has worked on greenhouse gas emissions and climate change policy since 1995 when he worked on an early study of sulfur hexafluoride emissions. He is a lead author of four Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports over 20 years, whose work was recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize, and has participated in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) process as a negotiator and then expert for over two decades. For the UNFCCC, he developed and taught the courses that certify experts to serve on compliance review teams under the Kyoto Protocol and has supported both the Clean Development Mechanism Executive Board and the Joint Implementation Steering Committee as a methodology expert. He was also a core advisor to World Resources Institute and the World Business Council on Sustainable Development on the revised edition of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Michael has taught courses on GHG management at Princeton and the Harvard University Extension School. In the late 1990s, Michael co-developed the U.S. Greenhouse Gas Inventory Program within the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He was lead author of the Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks reports published from 1997 through 2003. Michael's work at EPA concentrated on development of national systems for producing high quality greenhouse gas emission inventories and on designing and negotiating the international compliance review process under the UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol. He is widely published, with articles in Energy Policy, Environmental Science and Policy, Environmental Finance, Nature Reports Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and ASTM Journal of Testing and Evaluation. He is the founding co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Carbon Management, published by Taylor & Francis. Frequently interviewed by the media as an expert, he has been quoted by the New York Times, National Public Radio, Mother Jones magazine, Los Angeles Times, Business Week, and USA Today. Previously, Michael founded the non-profit Greenhouse Gas Experts Network and was Director of the EcoRegistry® Program at Environmental Resources Trust. Prior to joining ERT, Michael was first with the U.S. EPA's Office of Policy, Planning and Evaluation and then EPA's Clean Air Markets Division. He has also worked for Sandia National Laboratories and ICF Consulting's Global Environmental Issues Group. Michael earned his doctorate from Princeton University's Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy Program (STEP) in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. His research focused on the economic and environmental impacts of renewable energy and emission markets. He has a masters from the University of Sussex in Evolutionary Adaptive Systems, where he was a William J. Fulbright Scholar. He has two additional masters degrees from MIT in environmental engineering and "Technology and Policy," as well as a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University. Michael is married to Bindiya Patel, who is Deputy Director of Public Health at PATH. They have two daughters, Keya Patel Gillenwater and Cimeren Patel Gillenwater and live in beautiful Seattle.

Bob Willard

Bob is a leading expert on quantifying the business value of sustainability strategies. He has given over a thousand presentations, has authored six books, and provides extensive resources for sustainability champions. He serves on the board of the Future-Fit Foundation and the B Corp Standards Advisory Council. He was one of the first five inductees into the International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) Hall of Fame in 2011 and received Clean50 awards in 2015 and 2017. He is an award-winning certified B Corp, an ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional, and has a PhD in sustainability from the University of Toronto. Catherine Harris

Catherine is a Principal Consultant with Acre, the CR/Sustainability and Responsible Investment Search firm, working with private sector businesses to help find and place senior practitioners looking to make a positive and measurable impact in the context of social, environmental and governance issues. Catherine has a particular interest in Board diversity and recently published a paper entitled The Social Board which provides an ideas menu to business on how to effectively engage board members social and environmental matters. Previously, Catherine worked with Global Action Plan (GAP), a leading environmental behaviour change charity. Prior to her time at GAP, she was a fundraiser for Epic Arts, a disability arts charity - and she was also a Senior Researcher at Macaulay Search; a boutique executive search firm where she worked within the charity and public sector. Catherine completed a Masters in 2001 at SOAS/Kings College London in Sustainable Tourism, Development and the Environment. She then went on to publish a paper with Xavier Font exploring social standards within the tourism certification industry; and has been applying her passion for responsible business practice ever since.

Daniel Vaughan-Whitehead

Daniel Vaughan-Whitehead has been working for European and International organisations, first at the European Commission in Brussels, and then at the International Labour Office (ILO). He is the Co-Founder and Chair of the Fair Wage Network, and also created and developed the ‘Fair Wage' approach (see his book Fair Wages - Strengthening Corporate Social Responsibility, Edward Elgar, 2010), which has been implemented by a number of brands and led to a certification process. Daniel Vaughan-Whitehead is also Professor at SciencesPo in Paris and at the University of Geneva where he is notably teaching a course on ‘Governance in Global Supply Chain'.

Dr Craig Fergusson

Craig is an experienced HR professional, implementing end-to-end HR solutions aligned with commercial and business requirements as well as employee engagement and talent management strategies. Craig started his career as a Semiconductor scientist and moved from there into Financial Analytics for the Semiconductor Sector, broadening out across the tech sector in general. He moved into HR via head-hunting quants for high-frequency trading desks and then taking an in-house role. He worked as the HR manager for the Carbon Trust during their shift from public sector quango to private sector consultancy then lead the HR function at Principles for Responsible Investment as they underwent a transformation in leadership and culture. He then lead the Global HR team at Milvik BIMA, a 7000 person microinsurance provider dealing exclusively in emerging markets across LatAm, Africa and Asia. He is currently Head of People at Steer Group, a global transport and infrastructure consultancy, where he is responsible for the HR and L&D functions and is a member of the Executive. During the past 10 years Craig's career interests have been strongly aligned with social and financial inclusivity and environmental responsibility. As well as securing $250,000 grant-funding from FMO, the Dutch Development Bank, to fund gender inclusivity work in emerging markets while at Milvik, over the past decade he has been an informal advisor to various organisations around mental health inclusivity and support in the workplace.

Geoff is an entrepreneur whose experience spans sustainability consulting, high-tech startups, corporate communications and academic research. Geoff holds a PhD in artificial intelligence, and has co-founded two software businesses. The second of these was acquired by a global technology company, where Geoff went on to serve as marketing director for three years. Geoff switched careers in 2010, joining London-based think-tank SustainAbility, and for four years he led the communications team and advised some of the world's biggest corporations on sustainable business models. In so doing he realised that there was no reliable way to measure how sustainable a company is now, and how much more it needs to do, and he wanted to fix that. So in early 2014 Geoff left to set up Future-Fit Foundation. Our trustees bring a wealth of experience to bear to help us fulfil our mission as a UK-registered charity.

Dr Michael Gillenwater

Mike is Deputy Director for Conservation & Land Use at Proforest, a global non-profit supporting the responsible production and sourcing of natural resources and agricultural commodities. This involves coordinating Proforest's land use planning and management work to help producers develop and manage operations that protect biodiversity and natural ecosystems, and respect community land rights - with a particular focus on Southeast Asia and W/C Africa. In particular using tools like the High Conservation Value and High Carbon Stock approaches, and working to adapt them to be practical for smallholders and landscape level applications. Mike has also led Proforest's engagement with multi-stakeholder initiatives such as the Accountability Framework and High Carbon Stock Approach to drive effective strategies for addressing deforestation in commodity supply chains. Mike has a background in applied tropical forest ecology and conservation biology, and has a PhD in Tropical Forest Ecology from the University of York.

Erica Ocampo

Since August 2019, Erica Ocampo serves as the Global Director of Sustainability for Sims Ltd a newly created position. She has led the development of science-based, company-wide sustainability strategy aligned to the company's purpose narrative and growth strategy. From data management to climate change goals development, Erica is integrating ESG principles across the company. Prior to Sims, Ocampo worked for Dow starting in 2007 where she spent three years as a plastics technical support & development engineer for the Latin America region's rigid packaging, pipes and rotomolding markets. In 2010, she then began working with the Environmental, Health and Safety department overseeing environmental regulations and compliance for several units at Dow Texas operations as an environmental specialist. She was responsible for the coordination and administration of existing EH&S programs, determining a facility's applicability for regulatory and permit requirements, and promoting awareness of department compliance. In 2012, Erica took the North America sustainability and advocacy manager role for Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics. In this capacity, Ocampo worked to facilitate the implementation of energy recovery projects, worked with the entire value chain to address sustainability challenges faced by plastic packaging, and collaborated with other sustainability industry leaders. In 2015, Ocampo took the sustainability manager role for Dow's global EH&S and Sustainability group. In this position Erica was responsible for Dow's sustainability reporting, including Dow's Annual Sustainability Report and Dow's annual submission to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Ocampo was also responsible for the annual evaluation of Dow's Sustainable Chemistry Index, which measures each of Dow's business units' sustainability performance and their progress toward the 2025 Sustainable Chemistry Goal. She also developed and led Dow's Sustainability Academy; an employee development program that provides participants with the tools needed to bring sustainability business insights into their day-to-day jobs as well as hands-on experience with sustainability project. In 2017, Ocampo became the global sustainability strategy manager for Dow's Consumer Solutions business. In this role, she focused on the strategy development across the business to align to Dow's 2025 Sustainability Goals and manage key external value chain partnerships. Ocampo received a master's degree in sustainability and environmental management from Harvard University Extension School and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Ocampo is passionate about sustainability and is determined to drive value from ESG risks and opportunities to support the alignment of society's values with market forces.

Graeme Griffiths

Graeme is currently Chief Operating Officer of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), a UN-backed initiative supported by over 2,000 investor signatories and $80tn in assets. He was previously co-head of PRI's signatory relations team. Graeme has more than 30 years' prior experience in asset management and corporate finance. Most recently he was a client portfolio manager in the quality growth equities team at Vontobel Asset Management and, before this, a senior portfolio manager and head of currency overlay in the value equities team at Alliance Bernstein. Earlier in his career, Graeme was head of European M&A at KPMG Corporate Finance and a senior M&A professional at J.P. Morgan, where he worked for 16 years in London, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Graeme holds a BSc in Economics from LSE and an MSc in Management (Sloan Fellowship) with distinction from London Business School (LBS). He is a CAIA Charterholder. John Elkington

John Elkington is a world authority on corporate responsibility and sustainable development. He is currently Founding Partner and Executive Chairman of Volans, a future-focused business working at the intersection of the sustainability, entrepreneurship and innovation movements. While he resists being labelled, John is a writer, thought-leader and business strategist, a serial entrepreneur and, at heart, an environmentalist. Lisa Attenborough

Lisa Attenborough is the founder and director of LA Consulting, a full-service reputation and brand building consultancy. Until recently, Lisa sat on the management board of the UK's largest FMCG and food company, Arla, where she was responsible for making it a household name. Lorraine Smith

Martin Allen

Martin has led companies for Apple, Disney, EMI and Ceviche internationally and has a unique experience set having worked for the last 20 years in both non-profit and private sectors at an operational level, as a CEO and at Board level. Motivated by environmental, social and economic justice he has worked in sustainability, social enterprise, tech, consumer products, music and food sectors and is a transformation, change, culture building, team building and innovation expert. He has guided organizations through both accelerated growth and challenging turnarounds successfully transitioning them when faced with changing environments. He worked for Steve Jobs at Apple, launching and heading iTunes Pan EU guiding it to become the world's biggest digital retailer.
