American Zinc Products is a leading producer of special high-grade zinc. Located in Rutherford County, North Carolina, our facility is the only one in the world that produces zinc solely from recycled sources. As the final step in our recycling process, we use a licensed electrowinning and solvent extraction technology to extract zinc from steel recycling byproducts that would otherwise be disposed of in landfills... American Zinc Products is one of the largest industrial employers in Rutherford County... At American Zinc Products, we produce zinc from waelz oxide (WOX). We use our patented extraction process to extract value from the WOX, which contains mostly zinc with some lead and silver. It is refined into special high-grade zinc (SHG) that is 99.995% pure-turning what would have been industrial waste into a valuable commodity.
