FOOD4LIBERATION

Solidarity, not service: In our spaces, there is no "us" and "them". There are no "givers" (volunteers, donators, funders) and "takers" (so-called "people in need", "service users", "clients" or "consumers"). We collapse this dualism by completing the "Cycle of Giving & Recieving": i.e. there is no giving without also recieving, and no recieving without also the opportunity to give. We are not a group of altruistic people ("givers") doing a service for another group of people we have infantilised ("takers"). We are a group of people coming together in solidarity, creating liberation all together, and freely sharing our surplus. We subscribe to the idea by Lilla Watson, an aboriginal activist, that: "If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." Where possible, we grow our food in gardens together, cook it in our kitchens together, preserve it for the winter toghether or eat..
