The Ocean KAN was created by a team of scientists, journalists, and stakeholders to promote the co-design and co-creation of ocean science for sustainable development. The Ocean KAN is ready to meet the call of local, regional, and global initiatives that want to engage in stakeholder-driven ocean research to better meet the needs of decision makers... The Ocean KAN is creating innovative approaches to collaborating - working to build bridges across networks, languages, disciplines, borders, and more. This means finding new ways of engaging stakeholders, moving away from old-fashioned proposal writing, creating incentives for non-scientists to participate in research, sharing the knowledge that resides in people's brains and experiences, and embracing digital technologies that allow for decentralized approaches to creating self-organizing networks of researchers, stakeholders, facilitators, and funders...
