A jack of all trades, Andrea Potter works with the PMU Specialty team as a strategic advisor and creative director for all things brand and marketing.
Andrea is the founder and principal of AMP IT UP, a strategic marketing and project management consultancy. As a seasoned marketing professional, she works as a strategic advisor, project manager, and creative director in a variety of service industries.
Andrea joined the Reliance Group of Companies in 2016 and has helped elevate the companies' diverse brands by building up digital marketing, staff advocacy programs, and client retention standards, providing the support required as Reliance expanded and grew their business.
She brings these talents to PMU Specialty, as it works to bring genuine, unique, and affordable services to companies seeking to elevate their game and focus on measurable outcomes.
Andrea is straight forward and prefers to work with like-minded people with a common goal. She's a voracious reader and when not working, she's in the forest with her dog Jasper, exploring the sea of Cortez with her husband, and travelling the country visiting her parents, four sisters and two daughters.
Chris did a full circle tour with the family business - Reliance Group of Companies. He started out as an account manager in 1995. He then left in 1998 to learn from the best of the best on Fortune 1000 accounts for some of the largest insurance firms in the world; gaining extensive expertise in developing complex risk management and insurance programs in Vancouver, New York, and San Francisco. Chris returned to Reliance Insurance in 2005, where he has served as CEO. The family has not stopped expanding the organization, and one of the goals was to expand the Managing General Agent experience the group already had in the pleasure craft market. Within a year, Chris helped launch PMU Specialty. A unique MGA suited to high risk and hard to place markets.
In keeping with family tradition, Chris is active in both local and national insurance communities, where he has been involved in the Insurance Brokers Association of British Columbia and the Insurance Bureau of Canada, as well as the British Columbia Food Processors Association (BCFPA) where he won the Rising Star Award. He has also volunteered at a variety of charities, such as Caring for Our Youth, Kiwassa Neighborhood House, the East Vancouver Community Policing Office, North Shore Community Foundation, and of course, Building Communities Together where he leads trips to Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic to help build better communities for those in need.
Chris' colleagues in the business world tag him as: very professional, knowledgeable, understanding and delivers as he promises. He has innovative technical knowledge and risk management experience. Those who know him well, will tell you Chris has a fun side, a never ending positive attitude and a quick laugh. He loves to have adventures - hiking, biking, skiing, breaking a few bones, and then relaxing to his Covid acquired vinyl record collection.
David Park is the new kid on the block. But for a whipper snapper, he has some old soul smarts. With a background in Environmental Science from UBC and a focus in Marine Environment, David Park has always shared a curiosity in understanding complex adaptive ocean and terrestrial systems. As a Vancouverite with an affinity for nature, David utilized his educational background with his deep rooted admiration for the environment as he performed research in the coastal waters of Vancouver. In 2022 David joined the team at Safe Harbour Insurance (part of the Reliance Group of Companies) as the lead Western Canadian Marine Account Manager to help boaters mitigate risk before they get in the waters.
But David's skill set is suited for the pace, and the risk set analysis for PMU Specialty clients. He brings to the table a deep understanding of how to analyze the numbers, an asset that will help clients make the right risk decisions.
David's favorite place to travel is Jeju Island off South Korea golfing, hiking and relaxing at the beach. David loves to sing - so request your favorite song!
