Hasna J. Khan - CEO

Hasna J. Khan is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PSL Foundation. She preside over Foundation staff meetings; informs the Chairperson of the Board of Directors on all key topics of the organization's business; and reports on the implementation of all Board orders and resolutions. She reports to the Chairperson on staff performance in relation to program objectives and is responsible for enforcing any personnel policies adopted by the Board; she serves as the Foundation's overall leader and is responsible for setting and executing the Foundation's strategic direction, overseeing all program and project implementation, securing funding for the Foundation's activities, and developing global strategic relationships to facilitate and leverage the Foundation's work. She holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Washington, as well as a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from BUET. In 1996, she completed a Siemens course in Solar PV Design. She has also worked in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, as an Assistant Professor on the tenure track. She was a former Brookhaven National Laboratory Associate Engineer in Upton, New York.

Mahbubul A. Khandaker - CFO

Mahbubul A. Khandaker received his Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He is a former Chair and Professor of Physics at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, with over 25 years of academic experience and 8 years of faculty administration and research and teaching funding. He is the Foundation's general direction and oversight, ensuring that it is properly accomplishing its charitable objective; and he is the foundation's authorized contact person for external communications. He is also responsible for overseeing the Foundation's financial matters, as well as keeping and maintaining adequate and accurate books and records of the organization's donations, properties, and financial transactions, including accounts of the organization's assets, liabilities, receipts, disbursements, capital, and other matters commonly included in financial statements. He deposits all money and other assets in the name and to the credit of the organization with such depository as the Board may designate; disburses the organization's finances as the Board may order; and provides an account of all financial transactions and the organization's financial position to the president and directors, whenever they request it.

Munsi A. Haque

Munsi A. Haque attends Board meetings as needed to vote on organization-related items and offers general guidance and oversight for the Foundation to ensure it is properly performing its humanitarian objective. She earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University in Stanford, California, and is a retired scientist/engineer who previously worked for Sony Research, Intel Corporation, Philips, Apple Computer, Broadcom, and other companies. She has over 34 years of expertise in the field of Multimedia Technology (Video/Audio/ System Integration) in Silicon Valley. She is an expert in algorithm development, silicon architecture, and participation in the development of ISO/MPEG and ITU-T standards specifications.

Nasima Khan - COO

Nasima Khan received her MS in Architecture from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, and has over 20 years of expertise in building design and construction in Maryland, New York, and Florida. She has extensive expertise working with low-income people in developing nations on issues such as livelihood, water supply, and housing. She provides general direction and oversight for the Foundation to ensure that it is effectively fulfilling its charitable mission; and keeps a book of minutes of all meetings and actions of the directors and committees of directors at the principal executive office, including the time and place of holding regular and special meetings, and if special, how authorized, the notice given, the names of those present at such meetings, and the proceedings of such meetings. She is responsible for notifying the Board of Directors of all meetings required by the bylaws, as well as coordinating financial planning and analysis, budget activities and resource allocation, developing funding strategies, and working to maintain a sound financial environment. She also contributes to the creation and implementation of a variety of organizational initiatives aimed at streamlining central activities and bringing better cohesiveness and consistency to the organization. Finally, she aids the CEO in developing a culture of cooperation and performance and serves as the CEO's Chief of Staff, advising and liaising on her behalf with the leadership team, vendors, and funders to expedite issue resolution and enhance the flow of information to program beneficiaries.

Sarah Tasneem

She earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut, and wrote her thesis on "Application and Effects of Process Residual Time Information in Time-Sensitive Dynamic Scheduling." She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Eastern Connecticut State University, as well as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science at Eastern Connecticut State University. She attends board meetings as required to vote on organizational concerns and to give general direction and oversight for the Foundation to ensure that its charitable objective is efficiently fulfilled.

Shamima J. Khan - Chairman

Shamima Khan is the Chairperson of the Board of PSL Foundation. She has a background in developmental economics and has spent over 23 years at the World Bank, where she obtained substantial experience. She presides over Board of Directors meetings and ensures that the Board is informed on all essential topics of the organization's operations. She also ensures that the Board's instructions and resolutions are carried out. She oversees and directs the organization's overall operations to ensure that it is effectively delivering its humanitarian objective. She serves as the Foundation's overall leader and is responsible for setting and executing the Foundation's strategic direction, overseeing all program and project implementation, securing funding for the Foundation's activities, and developing global strategic relationships to facilitate and leverage the Foundation's work. She earned her PhD in Economics from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, as well as her MA in Economics from the same institution. She is a retired World Bank economist with over 20 years of experience in low-income population economic development in developing nations such as Bangladesh, India, Sudan, and Indonesia.
