Alicia Ball Steinberg is a Development Director for Shatterproof based in New York. She leads engagement with fundraisers, sponsors, community partners, participants and volunteers for the Rise Up Against Addiction Walk in New York City and Washington DC. She first came to Shatterproof in 2017, where she helped to launch the inaugural Rise Up Against Addiction Walks and, in her time with Shatterproof, has supported Create Your own Fundraising Events, Corporate Partnerships, Virtual Fundraisers and more. Alicia began her career in fundraising as an undergraduate at Brandeis University. Since then, she has worked as a fundraising professional for a variety of causes and events, including as Development Coordinator at the One Love Foundation in Bronxville, NY and as Manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations at the National Organization on Disability. Alicia lives in New Jersey with her husband and two dogs.

Alyson Levine is the Vice President, Community Fundraising and Brand Experiences and is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of brand engagement experiences, physical and virtual, that broaden the grassroots footprint of Shatterproof nationwide and leverage peer to peer fundraising. With more than 20 years of fundraising, development and campaign marketing experience, Alyson had been providing the strategic vision and leadership for all of JDRF's core fundraising programs and lead the teams responsible for all national events including Walk, Gala, Ride, Endurance and DIY. By honoring the unique characteristics of these events, Alyson leverages innovative digital strategies to improve overall donor experiences. Aly comes to Shatterproof after serving in various roles at JDRF where she has worked since 2004, most recently as Associate Vice President, Fundraising Programs. During her career at JDRF, Aly grew the Ride to Cure Diabetes into an experience for thousands of riders from around the world to come together as one community raising more than $55 million to date. The Ride program was listed as a top 10 cycling program in our industry over the past few years. Most recently, Aly created and implemented the DIY/JDRF Your Way program and platform and lead the efforts to integrate fitness activity tracking into all peer-to-peer programs for innovative storytelling, corporate engagement and collective goal challenges. Alyson knows the power that peer-to-peer events can have in building community, raising awareness and empowering supporters to activate their networks on behalf of your mission. Alyson currently lives in New York with her husband and two dogs.

Amanda Mauri

Amanda is a PhD student in the Health Management and Policy Department at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Her research focuses on issues related to behavioral health policy domestically and abroad. Specifically, she combines political science and health services research methods to evaluate national and local policies related to insurance equity, opioid misuse, and behavioral health provider shortages. At Shatterproof, Amanda works on a variety of initiatives related to improving access to and quality of substance use disorder treatment nationally. Previously, Amanda worked as the Policy Advisor at the Kennedy Forum and Thomas Scattergood Behavioral Health Foundation. In this position, she analyzed legislative and regulatory actions related to behavioral health insurance coverage. She mainly focused on behavioral health parity implementation, providing technical assistance to health plans and regulatory agencies and assisting in the development of accreditation standards and auditing protocols. Prior to starting this position, Amanda was the senior researcher on A Common Struggle by Patrick Kennedy and Stephen Fried. In this role, she researched the development of U.S. mental health policy from 1960s to today and co-authored a roadmap to improve the U.S. behavioral health system featured in the appendix. Amanda received both a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Society and Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of Pennsylvania.

A digital marketing expert in nonprofit fundraising and email communications, Amy develops cross-channel digital communications that support and grow year-round online giving and contribute to the retention and growth of Shatterproof supporters. Amy brings over a decade of experience in running digital marketing campaigns for large and small nonprofits. At The Nature Conservancy, she oversaw a highly profitable SEM program and planned and executed cross-channel digital campaigns. Her time at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum was spent developing multi-faceted email campaigns for fundraising and donor retention specifically focused on audience segmentation and journey-building. Her work at the International Fund for Animal Welfare saw her expand her strategic input to a worldwide audience to build a best-in-class digital fundraising program. Amy loves all things digital, and there's never been a digital platform she hasn't mastered. She has a special knack for audience segmentation, email deliverability rehab, letting data inform decisions, and building relationships across teams. Amy loves singing, creative writing, and making people laugh. Her motto is, "if you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong." A native of Louisiana and graduate of the University of Virginia, Amy currently lives in Washington DC with her cat, Otis.

Angad has also served as a consultant and partnered with clients to introduce new solutions (online work drivers, enhanced analytics capability, and process improvement) to address business needs. Asha Carroll (she/her) is Director of Social Media Engagement for Shatterproof's National Stigma Initiative. In this role, Asha is responsible for creating, growing, and managing the paid and organic social media strategy of the National Stigma Initiative's statewide stigma reduction campaigns. Prior to joining Shatterproof, Asha worked at the Vermont Democratic Party as Communications Director and Spokesperson, where she served as chief on-the-record spokesperson and led partywide messaging and communications strategy and implementation. Previously, she served as the organization's first ever Digital Organizing Director, developing and managing the Party's first statewide comprehensive digital plan and expanding digital communications to include storytelling and video content. Asha's chief interest is using modern storytelling to drive social change. She grew her career matchmaking consumer brands with fast-growing influencers in the early days of Instagram, and has created partnerships, marketing initiatives, and content for brands including Bob's Red Mill, Justin's Nut Butters, and Almond Breeze and influencers including Food Network's Molly Yeh and New York Times bestseller Tieghan Gerard. Ashley has both professional and personal experiences in the field of recovery. At 21 years old, Ashley began her journey as a person in recovery from substance use and has now been sober for 7 years. In 2016, Ashley designed and implemented a Collegiate Recovery Program at Colorado State University helping hundreds of students enter into a life of recovery. She also has professional experiences working one-on-one with people who have mental health and substance use concerns. Ashley is an advocate for young adults in recovery and people in the LGBTQ+ community. Ashley is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Colorado State University and her passion continues to be recovery advocacy, networking, and designing and implementing programs. She lives in Connecticut and enjoys playing basketball, hiking, and being in nature.

Prior to Shatterproof, Chad worked within the human service field for over 20 years within varying roles including direct care of intellectually disabled children and adults, school-based addictions prevention education coordination and correctional therapeutic community facilitation. Most recently Chad spent the last 10 years at the State of New Jersey Division of Mental Health Addiction Services where he had the privilege to work in several rolls including Substance Use Disorder fee-for-service initiative manager, data analysis for executive reporting for the Mental Health fee-for-service transition period and Mental Health fee-for-service contract administration. Chad has a BA in Sociology from Kean University as well as a Master of Public Administration from Capella University. As a continuous learner Chad is always looking to learn new skills to be an effective administrative tool for the behavioral health field. After getting sober at age 22, Chapin brings lived experience to the National Stigma Initiative. Before joining Shatterproof, Chapin sold real estate in the top markets of Southwest Florida, moved to Tennessee where he created one of Nashville's fastest-growing brands and served as an artist manager before working in the residential treatment industry. As a member of the recovery community himself, Chapin is passionate about transforming the way the world views substance use disorder, prompting him to create a community outreach program to help young adults find solidarity in recovery. An avid concertgoer and dog-lover, the small town Norwich, Vermont native enjoys spending time with his dogs Ford and Chief and exploring the live music scene that his home of Nashville, TN has to offer. Christine Mack

She is primarily focused on the ATLAS platform redesign as she assists in improving user navigation through project management of data validation, website analytics, quality assurance testing, and content updates. She also coordinates quality measurement tasks regarding claims-related planning and public commenting. Prior to Shatterproof, Christine held various roles relating to healthcare and behavioral healthcare improvement. She has experience working in the public, private, and research sectors of healthcare. Her enthusiasm for professional growth and making a positive difference often led her to take on flexed roles. Her most memorable experience is holding a key role in building a grant-funded crisis intervention program through Health Homes of Upstate New York. Core efforts included enhancing corporate responsibility in improving access to quality care for the Medicaid population, addressing inequalities in behavioral healthcare related to social determinants of health and assessing gaps in care through Value-Based Payment education and incentives. Her drive for change pushed her to take on responsibilities in proposal writing, program coordination, data management, internal systems change, and partner relationships to successfully expand this program across New York State. Christine is thrilled to join the Shatterpoof family given its essential efforts in stigma-reduction and improving accessibility to quality-driven information when navigating care. Dr. Lipi Roy is an internal medicine physician board certified in addiction medicine as well as an MSNBC and NBC News Medical Contributor. She also serves as clinical assistant professor at the NYU Langone Health. As the former Chief of Addiction Medicine for New York City jails including Rikers Island, Dr. Roy oversaw substance use treatment and recovery services at the nation's second-largest jail complex. Previously, she was a primary care doctor to Boston's vulnerable homeless population, among whom the leading cause of death was drug overdose. Dr. Roy's experience spans leadership roles from state-run to private addiction treatment centers. She also served as an attending physician at Massachusetts General Hospital and as faculty at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Roy completed her medical and master's in public health degrees at Tulane University, followed by residency training in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Roy is a strong advocate for public service. In addition to caring for incarcerated and homeless men and women, she has served the underserved in Nicaragua and India, as well as New Orleans residents affected by Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Roy has also provided medical relief to earthquake victims in Haiti, and volunteered in the medical tent at the Boston Marathon. She currently volunteers with the New York City Medical Reserve Corps. Dr. Roy is a sought-after, charismatic speaker and media personality whose mission is to educate and empower the public to make healthy decisions through addiction awareness, nutrition, and mindfulness. Emilia works for those with a substance use disorder and their loved ones with a sense of compassion and empathy, derived from personal experience as the daughter of a parent with a dual diagnosis of serious mental illness and a substance use disorder. She is an advocate for policy changes surrounding the criminalization of those with a substance use disorder, and for an increase in support for harm reduction programming and outreach. Emilia previously developed Kyah's EPICourse - a free online food allergy and epinephrine training program for the Kyah Rayne Foundation (KRF). She also has experience working in harm reduction at the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF), at the Syringe Access Program, conducting HIV/Hepatitis C tests, and developing LGBTQ+ youth summer programming around substance use and suicide. Emilia is committed to increasing access to scientifically proven methods of successful addiction treatment and ending the stigma which causes immense harm to those with addiction and their families. Emilia has a BS and MPH in Public Health from the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. She lives in Alabama with her partner and three cats. Erika Mitchell is the Chief Financial Officer for Shatterproof. She leads the financial, contract administration, and risk management functions of the organization. Erika has several years of experience in the finance, operations, and strategy fields. She most recently served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at MedShare International where she led the national finance and accounting functions and provided strategic direction in support of international relations. Prior to MedShare, Erika served as the CFO at Communities In Schools of Atlanta where she led the finance, human resources, information technology and administrative functions including the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies. Prior to joining the nonprofit sector, Erika spent several years at Deloitte in various leadership roles. During her tenure at Deloitte, Erika served in the M&A advisory services group where she provided due diligence, transaction structuring and advisory services to domestic and international corporate strategic buyers, sellers, and private equity investors. She also worked in the Talent Development group where she led business critical activities including designing and executing high profile strategic initiatives in talent development. Lastly, Erika spent time in the Audit practice where she served both public and private financial services clients. Erika is very active in her community, devoting much of her time to helping underserved communities. She currently serves on the boards of Our House and the State Charter Schools Foundation of Georgia. Gary Mendell is the founder and CEO of Shatterproof, a national nonprofit focused on reversing the course of the addiction crisis in America. After losing his son Brian to addiction in 2011, Gary founded Shatterproof to spare other families the tragedy his had suffered. Since founding Shatterproof in 2012, Mr. Mendell has been a national leader in the addiction field creating solutions that will ensure that substance use disorder will be prevented and treated for generations to come, including providing the support needed to those in recovery and removing the shame and stigma so often associated with those afflicted with this disease. He is a frequent speaker on how our society can end the stigma unjustly associated with addiction, has been honored numerous times for his leadership related to reversing the course of the opioid epidemic, testified in front of the President's Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis, testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance on Treating Substance Misuse in America, and has been a guest several times on CNBC and MSNBC to provide his perspective on commonsense solutions to the opioid epidemic, and his opinions are frequently reflected in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and The Washington Post. He raised and managed $1.2 billion in discretionary capital from some of the most prestigious universities in the United States and managed more than $2 billion in assets. He is also a former trustee and president of Starwood Lodging Trust. That business-world experience gives him a unique perspective in running a nonprofit organization like Shatterproof. The enactment of the ABLE Act culminated an eight-year campaign to gain approval for tax-free savings accounts to help individuals and families finance disability needs and is considered by some to be the most significant disability legislation since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In addition to his work for Autism Speaks, he has advised early-stage biotech and technology firms on their public affairs and market strategies through the consulting firm he founded, Chesapeake Bay Ventures.
