The Level I Medication Aide (LIMA) course prepares individuals for employment as a LIMA in Residential Care Facilities (RCF) and Assisted Living Facilities (ALF). This course is designed to train the student how to safely and effectively pass medications to residents in a RCF or ALF. Students will learn state regulations, resident's rights, infection control, medication actions and effects, accurate dosage and measurements, use of a drug reference handbook, transcription of physician orders and proper documentation. Students who successfully pass this course will receive a Level I Medication Aide Certification through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and become active on the DHSS LIMA Registry... The LIMA Re-certification course meets the Department of Health and Senior Services requirement for Level I Medication Aide re-certification. This training must be completed every 2 years in order to continue to administer medications in a Residential Care Facility (RCF)..
