Ms. Simon is an associate with the Firm. Her practice focuses on defending corporations, healthcare providers, and other individuals in complex litigation claims in the areas of toxic tort, products liability, medical negligence, and general insurance defense. Prior to joining Wharton Levin Ehrmantraut & Klein, Ms. Simon worked as a staff attorney for the Appellate Court of Maryland, conducting research on procedural and substantive issues of law and preparing recommendations to the Court for the disposition and efficient completion of cases. Ms. Simon also has a significant background as a practicing attorney in civil litigation, having represented numerous plaintiffs in personal injury and other civil matters throughout the State of Maryland. In her capacity as a litigator, Ms. Simon has engaged in all phases of fact and expert discovery, motions practice, defending and deposing expert witnesses, and trials before the Maryland district and circuit courts. Ms. Simon received her B.A. from Wake Forest University in 2008. In 2011, Ms. Simon received her J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law where she was the managing editor of the Jurisprudence Review.

Mr. Rutland is the Managing Shareholder of the Firm. An accomplished trial lawyer, his practice primarily involves the defense of health care professionals, and general civil litigation.
Mr. Rutland is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar, the Virginia State Bar, the Anne Arundel County Bar, and the D.C. Defense Lawyers' Association.
Ms. Schultz is a shareholder with the firm who concentrates on the defense of medical malpractice claims. She regularly defends local physicians, hospitals and health care institutions at the trial level in cases alleging medical negligence. Ms. Schultz's litigation experience includes all phases of fact and expert discovery, motions practice, defending and deposing expert witnesses, bench and jury trials; she regularly appears before the Maryland District and Circuit Courts. For several years prior to joining WLEK, Ms. Schultz practiced law in California, where she defended physicians and dentists from malpractice claims, and also frequently represented insurance companies and their insureds in premises liability, personal injury and wrongful death actions.Ms. Schultz received her B.A. from San Diego State University in 1997 and her J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California in 2000, where she was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honors Program.Ms. Schultz is a member of the Maryland and California State Bar Associations.
