Aimee Guidera is a Senior Advisor for Entangled Solutions. A respected thought leader in education, Aimee was named one of TIME's 12 Education Activists of 2012. She has also been cited as an expert on education policy and the value of education data by publications such as Business Week, NPR, and Education Week. Aimee is a Pahara-Aspen Education Fellow and an alumna of the Institute for Educational Leadership's Education Policy Fellowship Program. One of her career highlights has been having Data Quality Campaign (DQC) named as The Washingtonian's Best Places to Work. She serves on the board of directors of the Institute for Educational Leadership, the Policy Innovators in Education Network, Minnesota Comeback, and the Friends of the Hennepin County (Minnesota) Library. Aimee is also the Senior Warden of St. Martin's by the Lake Episcopal Church.
Before founding DQC, Aimee served as the director of the Washington, DC, office of the National Center for Educational Achievement. She previously served as vice president and chief of staff for the National Alliance of Business (NAB), worked in the education division of the National Governors Association's Center for Best Practices, and taught for the Japanese Ministry of Education.
Aimee received her bachelor's degree from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and earned a master's degree in public policy from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
Akiba Covitz has led business development processes at numerous Ed Tech start-ups. He started his career as a tenure-track professor, winning campus-wide and nationwide teaching awards. After a stint in the private equity world, Akiba went on to become Associate Dean for Faculty Development and member of the faculty at Harvard Law School where he oversaw the extraordinary expansion and diversification of the HLS faculty, after a long period of stagnant growth. Akiba then served as the founding vice president for University Relations at edX, which now exceeds 20 million learners. Akiba went around the world many times over talking to presidents, provosts, board members, faculty members, and students, helping all stakeholders see the coming online revolution.
Akiba was then brought to Academic Partnerships, an online program management provider, where he was senior vice president for strategic relationships. Akiba is currently Chief Revenue Officer at Sense Education, an AI company that uses machine learning to scale feedback from course staff, allowing small classes to become large classes, and making those large classes feel like small classes. Most recently, Akiba was head of business development at Minerva Project, one of the most innovative and most global educational companies. Akiba has served as a senior advisor to the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), where he led the design and creation of an innovative partnership between the IADB, the government of Uruguay, multiple educational institutions in Uruguay, Harvard's Program on Negotiation, and MIT's Abdul Latif Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL), to bring the most advanced technology skills to one of the most progressive countries in the Americas. He has served as co-editor of the "Higher Ed Gamma" blog (because "Higher Ed Beta" was just so Late 20th Century) in the journal Inside Higher Education, where you can see some of his writings.
Akiba holds graduate degrees in political science from the University of Pennsylvania, and law from Yale Law School. His undergraduate studies were in classical liberal arts at St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland.

Alaina Leggette is a Consultant with Entangled Solutions. As a former 11th grade physics teacher, she brings tangible K-12 experience to the team. Her time as a classroom teacher exposed her to the inefficiencies and inequity that exists in the education space and made her deeply passionate about finding solutions to progress student learning.
Prior to joining Entangled Solutions, Alaina supported the VIQI study, which is funded by the Administration of Children and Families and aims to assess drivers of quality in various Pre-K curricula. Most recently, Alaina worked in partnership with her capstone team and the New York City's Center for Innovation through Data Intelligence, the policy arm of the mayor's office, to develop a comprehensive, place-based well-being index for the city. This index, which included education as a fundamental domain, paints a clearer picture of New York City residents' well-being, as compared to other economic measures, such as GDP per capita.
Alaina holds a B.S. and B.A. in Economics and Biology, respectively, from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
Alexandra Cannon (Alex) is the Grants Manager at Entangled Solutions. With a diverse background in professional writing, academia, and informal education, Alex draws from her years of grant writing experience and passion for education to support Entangled Solution's mission to make a positive and lasting impact on the educational ecosystem.

Ameer is a problem solver with a passion for client support and user experience. Using his background in engineering and marketing, he identifies the optimum solution for every client challenge presented and lays out an action plan to achieve it. He has led numerous teams to implement solutions and build products that add value to users and businesses.
Anna Jiang is a Consultant for Entangled Solutions. She is passionate about increasing access to education both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining Entangled, Anna worked in sustainable development research for the United Nations Development Programme, supporting multi-national stakeholders in the implementation of the SDGs. Most recently, Anna was a fellow at the Center for Social Difference at Columbia University in New York, where she conducted research on gender equality in Asia.
Anna earned a B.A. in English Literature and History from Louisiana State University and an M.A. in International Relations from Columbia University.
Brian Anthony is an educator at heart. He taught in the Persian Gulf and Syria for seven years before returning to the US to teach English and Gifted Program in rural and urban schools in Pennsylvania. He applied his classroom experience and passion to developing curricula for Amplify, Learning One to One Foundation, Big Picture Learning, American Reading Company, The British Council, and other organizations.
Brian has also written features for the Religion News Service, Dubai-based Gulf News, and numerous other publications.
Bryana's capability and versatility are nigh-proverbial at ProjectEd, where she's relied on to lead an array of development projects. As a developer, her expertise encompasses scores upon scores of languages, tools, and programs. She also has a significant background in UX design. Bryana was a front-end developer at Amplify, working to build better and more elegant reporting systems for teachers.

Chad Benedict is an Engagement Manager at Entangled Solutions. He has worked in higher education for more than 15 years, with experience in fundraising, alumni relations, admissions, student affairs, and communications.
Prior to Entangled, Chad served as the Managing Director of Annual Campaigns at Harvard, where he helped launch the university's record-setting $9.6 billion comprehensive campaign. Before that he was Director of Alumni Programs and Services at Rice University. Chad has worked with universities on new program development and strategic planning and has authored research into institutional governance and campus culture.
Chad earned his B.A. in History from Rice University and his Ed.M. in higher education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Association of Rice Alumni.
Dai Ellis is an education entrepreneur building ventures that prepare youth for success in 21 st century careers. Most recently, Dai co-founded Nova Pioneer to build the first pan-African network of K12 schools that make a world-class education affordable to working families. Dai is also a co-founder of Kepler, a next-generation higher education model that produces dramatically better employment outcomes for students at low cost. Kepler uses a hybrid delivery model that combines world-class online content, high-quality in-person coaching, and extensive on-the-job practice.
Dai previously served as CEO of Excel Academy Charter Schools, where he was responsible for building a network of high-performing urban schools in Boston. Dai has also worked at McKinsey and later spent five years leading the Clinton Foundation's work on improving the marketplace for drugs, vaccines, and other essential health products in the developing world. Dai is a graduate of Yale Law School.

Doug is a Senior Advisor at Entangled and a member of the faculty at USC where he teaches courses in economics, innovation, and leadership. While at Penn, Doug launched a host of executive degree programs focused including one for TFA, one for corporate learning, one for physicians and one for boarding school teachers. At NYU, he was an early adopter of e-learning, served as a founding member of Sloan-C (now OLN) and testified before Congress and the UN on the subject in the mid-90's. Doug is active in educational entrepreneurship. He created the country's largest business plan competition, launched 3 incubators, and co-founded one of the first charter schools in the country.
Dr. Nicole Tempel Assisi is an accomplished leader in innovative education with a focus on school design, organizational development and greater access and outcomes for all learners. She started her career as a classroom teacher and was a founding team member for Camino Nuevo Charter Academy. As a school leader and education entrepreneur she designed and co-founded the Da Vinci Schools (an XQ super school winner) and Thrive Public Schools. As the CEO and Founder for Thrive, Dr. Assisi and her team built schools aimed at serving San Diego's most vulnerable populations, and received national recognition as a model for serving students with disabilities.
Dr. Assisi also served as a professor for the Charter School Policy, Finance, and Administration Certificate Program at UCLA, the Charter and Autonomous School Leadership Academy at Cal State Dominguez Hills and the School of Leadership and Education at the University of San Diego. She is a frequent speaker at statewide and regional conferences on education reform, community engagement and school leadership.
Dr. Assisi earned her Master's Degrees in K-12 Literacy from the University of San Diego and in Educational Leadership from Point Loma Nazarene University, as well as her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education; she also holds several Administrative and Teaching credentials and certificates.
Beyond her day job, Dr. Assisi is originally from Germany. She is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and German and worked in television in both the United States and Europe before going into education. She was a board member for the Goethe International Charter School, served on the Advisory Board for the UCLA Extension Program and currently serves as a San Diego Continuing Education Foundation Advisory Board Members.
Fred is a Consultant at Entangled Solutions. Raised in a rural town in South Carolina, Fred is passionate about equity in education and leveraging innovation to improve student outcomes. He began his career as an educational advisor for Duke TIP's Next Generation Venture Fund, a college access program for gifted, underrepresented students across the country. Most recently, Fred served as an academic advisor at UNC-Chapel Hill, with a focus on creating programs to improve academic outcomes for first-generation college students.

Gillian's shrewdness and energy give ProjectEd's leadership team its force. Her 20 years of experience in software development, quality assurance, and technical project management includes time in the gaming industry, healthcare, and education. At Amplify, Gillian managed the QA and Support teams, and was responsible for implementation of a number of projects within the middle school ELA Curriculum division.

Grace Gardner is an Engagement Manager at Entangled Solutions. With a background in educational environments design and innovation strategy, Grace brings over a decade of experience in planning, design and innovation strategy, organizational behavior, and communication facilitation for K12, higher education and workplaces globally. Her focus is on facilitating the integration and implementation of innovative strategies into the design of physical environment to leverage student success.
Prior to joining Entangled, Grace has participated in and facilitated the programming, design, master planning, and strategy of educational facilities and workplaces both domestically and globally, concentrating on adapting educational environments for innovation and active learning. Her expertise adds unique insights into the complexities of how space affects productivity and interaction, how technology affects how we use space, and new ways of consensus building and communication strategy.

Henry Deng is an Engagement Manager at Entangled Solutions. He started his career as a strategy consultant with Accenture's Education, Non-Profit, and Employment practice in Boston, where he first developed experience working with education providers around the world on how to serve learners sustainably and effectively. From Accenture, Henry completed an Education Pioneers Fellowship working in Strategy & Operations at Education Forward DC (formerly part of NewSchools Venture Fund).
Immediately prior to joining Entangled, Henry focused on how to apply technology to scale the impacts of education by working at Google in Business Strategy and co-founding an education technology company, Lumovia. Lumovia is an interactive, mobile, augmented reality application that prompts students to complete STEM learning quests in their everyday environment and helps engage learners by overlaying concepts directly onto reality. The venture won the Verizon 5G Edtech Challenge in 2019, receiving $100,000 in grant funding and participating in the 15-week Verizon Edtech Product Accelerator. Henry continues to serve as an advisor for Lumovia.
Henry earned his BA in Mathematical Economic Analysis, Statistics, and Managerial Studies from Rice University and an MBA (with honors) in Entrepreneurship & Innovation from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Jonathan Kaplan, a Senior Advisor at Entangled Solutions, has served in a variety of leadership positions in higher education, business, and the public sector.
Jonathan previously held a number of senior executive positions over a 16-year career at Laureate Education, the leading global higher education company. Most recently, he served as CEO of the Laureate Online division, and President & CEO of Walden University. Earlier in his career, Jonathan served in the White House as special assistant to the President for economic policy under President Bill Clinton, and he practiced law as an associate at Covington & Burling, a leading international law firm.
Jonathan earned an AB cum laude in Government at Harvard College and a JD from the Boston University School of Law, where he served as an editor of the law review. He is a lecturer at Georgetown University in higher education leadership and ethics.

Kate Finnefrock is the Managing Partner of Professional Services at Entangled Group. In 2015, Kate founded ProjectEd which was acquired by Entangled in 2018. Kenneth Fang is a Case Team Leader at Entangled Solutions. He is passionate about building a more flexible and accessible higher education system for working adults.
Prior to Entangled, Kenneth worked on the university partnerships team at Guild Education where he developed a university ranking methodology with a focus on working adults and the future of work. Kenneth started his career as an investment associate at Bain Capital Credit where he covered the software and technology industry verticals.

Lauren Dibble is an Engagement Manager at Entangled Solutions where she has led nearly 40 projects and co-created Entangled's innovation management practice area. In addition to consulting, Lauren produces the Future U podcast.
Lauren has spent the last decade driving innovation and entrepreneurship in education and technology. Prior to joining Entangled, Lauren led marketing, communications, and strategic initiatives at Northeastern University. While at Northeastern, Lauren supported student- and alumni-founded startups through advising and mentorship, and she was a founding leader of the Northeastern University Venture Mentoring Network.

Lisa Baird is a business designer, organizational designer, and user experience designer with a passion for new-venture design. She has a particular interest in the interactive power of advanced financial models, organizational dynamics, and behavioral economics, particularly in the nonprofit and education space. Lisa believes that a well-designed business or financial model doesn't look or feel like a model at all - through beautiful design it empowers non-numbers people and bean-counters alike to imagine (and re-imagine) new ventures, products, services, and experiences. Mark is a national leader and pioneer in education, creating the first charter high school in California in 1995, one of the first school management organizations in 2001, and California's first fully technology-blended middle and high schools in 2008. A former teacher, coach, principal, attorney, professor and CEO, he was the founding chair of the state charter commission, has taught courses on school innovation and startup at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business and Graduate School of Education, and has served on numerous education boards, including San Francisco University High School, Flex Schools, and Leadership Schools, among others.

Mat Frenz is the VP of Research and Development at Entangled. He has dedicated his career to driving positive change in education, building and advising a number of educational companies and nonprofit organizations. Mat is responsible for growing Solutions to achieve its mission to guide the education ecosystem through fundamental changes in our society and economy.
Prior to joining Entangled, Mat led operations for GlassLab, a nonprofit educational technology organization funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the MacArthur Foundation. There, he was responsible for GlassLab Services, spearheading product, business, and partnership strategy, while driving an industry-leading approach to developing, analyzing, and distributing educational games. Mat was also the founder of Precision Response, a software as a service company devoted to supporting nonprofit organizations in their efforts to extend their reach and fundraising capabilities.
Matthew Daniel is a Partner at Entangled Solutions.
Prior to joining Entangled, Matthew consulted on learning strategy, learning technology, and experience design for Fortune 100s including Nike, Cigna Healthcare, GSK, Microsoft, and General Motors. Additionally, Matthew led enterprise learning technology and design for Capital One during their Digital Transformation and move towards an Employee Experience focus.
In his 15 years in corporate learning and talent development, Matthew has worked as an advocate for learners and for the field of talent development. Additionally, he has served on product advisory boards for learning technologies and contributed insights to product teams at SAP, Cornerstone, mLevel, Practice, Instructure, and others.
Matthew has recently been published in industry outlets like TD, ATD's 2019 State of the Finance Training, and Training Magazine and served on the advisory board for the Learning Conference. Matthew regularly speaks at national and local industry events, including for ATD and ISPI.

Michael is a wizard at untying knotty complications, from IT issues to inefficient systems. Taking off from an early interest in aircraft, Michael discovered a love for engineering and problem-solving. Michael Horn is a Senior Partner at Entangled Solutions. He is also the co-founder of and a distinguished fellow at the Clayton Christensen Institute for Disruptive Innovation, a nonprofit think tank. Michael is the author of the award-winning book, "Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns" and the Amazon bestseller, "Blended: Using Disruptive Innovation to Improve Schools".
Michael serves on the board and advisory boards of a range of education organizations, including the Clayton Christensen Institute, the Robin Hood Learning+Tech Fund, and the LearnLaunch Institute. He also serves as an executive editor at Education Next and is a venture partner at NextGen Venture Partners.
He was selected as a 2014 Eisenhower Fellow to study innovation in education in Vietnam and Korea, and Tech & Learning magazine named him to its list of the 100 most important people in the creation and advancement of the use of technology in education. Mike Berlin is the Managing Director of Entangled Solutions. Mike has a 10-year career investing in, acquiring, advising, and building startups in the higher education market. He currently acts as an advisor and mentor to several edtech startups.
Prior to joining Entangled Solutions, Mike led strategy and M&A at Macmillan New Ventures, global publisher Macmillan's education innovation division. Previously, Mike worked as a consultant at L.E.K. Consulting.

Nick Hammerschlag is the President of Entangled Group and the founder of Martellus Education. He was previously on the investment teams at General Atlantic and OpenView Venture Partners, where he focused on investments in the internet, technology, and education sectors. Nick has extensive experience in scaling both software and education companies, after having led OpenView's investment in Instructure (NYSE: INST) and serving on its board. Nick's current and prior board director/observer seats include Qubed Education, Monetate, Instructure, and QTS.
Outside of the office, Nick supports the MARSOC Foundation and is a member of the Weill Cornell Medicine Children's Health Council. He graduated from Columbia University with a degree in history. Nick enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and their pug/shar-pei puppy named Uni.

Oriana is a Technical Project Lead Fellow for Entangled Solutions. She joins the team in her final year of Management Engineering at the University of Waterloo, where she is an active member of Women in Engineering. As part of her role, she leads STEM based initiatives for girls in grades 5-12 and speaks as a conference panelist, to encourage young women to pursue education and careers in engineering.
Patrick Erker is a Partner at Entangled Solutions. He started his career as a fifth grade teacher through Teach For America in Chicago, and has remained a passionate advocate for educational opportunities throughout jobs in investment banking, defense contracting, and management consulting. As the father of a young son, he is deeply committed to building an equitable, effective education ecosystem that meets the needs of tomorrow's learners and students.
Immediately prior to joining Entangled, Patrick was a Project Leader at the Boston Consulting Group, where he was part of the U.S. education leadership team and a core member of BCG's client enablement team. At BCG, he focused on solving the challenges to companies' workforces brought on by digitization, automation, and accelerating change. He has advised CEOs and other leaders of mission-driven companies and organizations in the U.S. and abroad on core strategic and operational priorities.
Patrick earned his BA in Economics and Public Policy Studies from Duke University, an MA in Teaching from Dominican University in Chicago, and an MBA (with distinction) from Harvard Business School. He is an avid reader, writer, and rambler.

Paul Freedman is the CEO and co-founder of Entangled Group and is a Principal Consultant at Entangled Solutions. A longtime advocate for the transformative power of a college education, he has founded, managed, and invested in a number of successful education ventures. Prior to Entangled Group, Paul was the founder and CEO of Altius Education, an innovator in higher education focused on creating effective, personalized pathways to postsecondary degrees.
While still finishing college at The University of Chicago, Paul created Academic Engine, a college recruitment technology company that he later sold to Hobsons Inc. in 2004. After selling the company, Paul joined Hobsons as the president of its subsidiary focused on online student recruitment technologies, where he served for five years prior to founding Altius.

Sara Beth Hoffman is an Engagement Manager at Entangled Solutions. Serving as an AmeriCorps member in New Orleans public schools kindled her commitment to innovative and accessible education. She brings over seven years of experience working with higher education and public sector clients.
Previously, Sara Beth was a Senior Consultant in the Higher Education practice at Deloitte Consulting. At Deloitte, she collaborated with deans, CIOs, and administrative directors to develop and implement programs that improved student, faculty, and staff-oriented processes and services. She led teams to execute large-scale strategic initiatives at a range of higher education clients including large research universities, small liberal arts colleges, and a top business school.
Sara Beth earned a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and a B.A. from Wesleyan University. She loves bocce and hiking.
Sarah Holloway is a member of the faculty at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) where she teaches social entrepreneurship and nonprofit management, and oversees a campus-wide entrepreneurship initiative focused on global Education Technology for the Center for Development Economics & Policy. Sarah is a serial social entrepreneur and the co-founder of six ventures in K-12 education including MOUSE.org and Computer Science for All.
Scott Lomas is a Partner at Entangled Solutions. Scott has been working for companies that serve colleges and universities since 1995. Throughout his career he has helped colleges optimize the student experience, improve performance throughout the student lifecycle, and implement new ideas, practices, and structures.
Scott is passionate about increasing access to and participation in higher education, as well as student success and outcomes. All of this drives transformation for individuals, their families and society for generations. He has specific expertise in new program design and launch, enrollment management, online education, adult education, as well as partnerships and consortium models.
Scott comes from a family of educators and is an alumnus of UCLA and University of Kent, Canterbury.
Shira is a Consultant for Entangled Solutions. Passionate about the intersection of education and access, Shira began her career at a nonprofit focusing on digital inclusion and digital skill-building for our modern age. Stuart Frye is a Partner with Entangled Solutions where he helps clients with everything from full stack product development to early stage design and prototyping. He has deep experience in the education industry having worked in K12, Higher Ed, workforce development and corporate training. He's dedicated his career to education because it is the single most powerful lever we have to create better life opportunities for individuals and communities around the world.
Stuart comes to Entangled from Udacity, an online education platform helping lifelong learners advance their career in technology. There Stuart lead Udacity's Learning Products team during the design, development, and launch of 20+ educational products. He also build key product partnerships with industry leaders like Google, Facebook, NVIDIA, AWS, and AT&T as VP of Business Development and Partnerships.
Prior to Udacity, Stuart co-founded Eduvant which helps K12 school districts and CMOs better leverage the myriad data they collect for actionable insights. As CEO and co-founder, Stuart worked closely with schools and districts around the country to develop and iterate on the tools they needed. He began his career in education by opening English Language schools across Chinawith Aston Educational Group. He also led case teams as a strategy consultant with the Monitor Group.
Stuart holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Davidson College. He is based in San Francisco and has lived and worked in Boston as well as China.
Terah Crews is a Senior Partner at Entangled Solutions. Terah has been in education for 13 years, having started in youth and student services, research, and teaching, before moving into a career in innovation and new program/venture development.
Immediately prior to joining Entangled, Terah led business development for Sixup, a fintech/edtech platform that partners with schools to help low-income students pay for and graduate from college. Prior to Sixup, Terah spent four years at Arizona State University. While there, she served the Office of the President and the CEO of the ASU Foundation through designing and building innovative new programs and revenue streams, including a public service academy, a defense contractor, an edtech accelerator she co-founded, and a new corporate structure for the university's foundation.
A former high school dropout and first generation student turned alumna of UNC-Chapel Hill, Brown, and Harvard, Terah is passionate about the individual, social, and economic impact of education.
Zaza is a Case Team Leader with Entangled Solutions. She brings 10 years of experience working with education institutions to design richer learning experiences and environments.
Before joining Entangled, Zaza was Visiting Assistant Professor at the Taylor Center for Social Innovation and Design Thinking at Tulane University, where she helped the center build a research program in social innovation. In her previous role as founding director of the Design Thinking Initiative at Smith College, she led a $2.5 million pilot program to incorporate design thinking into liberal arts education. She developed the vision, strategy, and curriculum for a future center. She taught Smith faculty and students and designed the college's first open prototyping studio and classroom. While in Massachusetts, she was an entrepreneur-in-residence at the Springfield-based business accelerator program run by Valley Venture Mentors where she provided just-in-time coaching on customer and design research to minority-led start-ups.
Zaza holds a BA in Media Arts and Sciences from Wellesley College and a PhD in Learning Sciences and Technology Design from Stanford University's Graduate School of Education. She is co-editor of the volume Taking Design Thinking to School and co-developed the first series of conferences in design thinking for educators. Her research takes her back to her home country, Zimbabwe, where she facilitates workshops for doctors to improve their practice and innovate in healthcare management.
