The Florida Keys were a vastly different place when Marathon Lumber and Building Supply was established in 1977. The store's origins began in a storage facility not far from the current location. The city of Marathon wouldn't be incorporated for another 20 years, but Dale and Patricia Baker recognized a need for quality building products in the sleepy fishing village. They outgrew their first location with five years before relocating to their current space on 1st Avenue, Gulf between 111th and 113th Streets... Locally owned and family operated since 1977. Marathon Lumber and Building Supply plays an active role in the community through a number of civic organizations like the Marathon Jaycees, Greater Marathon Chamber of Commerce, Shriners, Moose Lodge, Florida Keys Contractors Association (Life Director), DAV, American Legion, Youth Athletics, Sheriffs Auxiliary, and takes great pride in supporting youth sports and activities...
