MENTAL HEALTH

Our brain is a complex and fascinating network of circuits that communicate through electrical signals as well as chemicals called neurotransmitters such as dopamine (involved in pleasure) and serotonin (involved in depression). Neuroplasticity is the brain's amazing ability to reorganize itself forming new connections throughout life. This allows for the brain to adjust itself in response to changes in the environment. Much research has been done in these areas and much more is ongoing. Modern Medicine is based on the findings of these studies and is evolving as we find out more about how the brain works.
