PAX - Key Persons
Elizabeth Jafek graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in Economics. She began her career at an economic consulting firm called Industrial Economics with a focus on environmental issues, where she worked with critical clients that included the EPA, DOI, and the USACE. She has been with PAX since the first cohort in 2020, and is passionate about building a community to support early stage founders in every way and helping founders learn the essential skills they need to lead and scale their companies successfully. Elizabeth loves to read, run, ski, and paint. Based in Boston, you can often find her walking around the city and finding new places to get dessert.
Eric studied at the University of Arizona pursuing a degree in Psychology and Spanish while playing collegiate lacrosse. After graduating, Eric worked at Calleva Outdoors as the Director of Instructors. While at Calleva he led whitewater kayaking trips across the US, Canada, and Mexico pursuing his passion for outdoor education while hiring, training, and managing a revolving staff of 35+ instructors. Eric joined the team at Pax Momentum in December of 2021, he enjoys talking to entrepreneurs about their ideas and helping them reach their goals. His role as Recruiting Director allows him to apply his study of human psychology and prior experience building dynamic teams to finding disruptive companies for the PAX portfolio.
Prior to joining the team full-time in the Summer of 2021, Jack worked part-time at PAX while he was finishing his undergrad. During his tenure at University, Jack also worked at Urgently, Calleva Outdoors, and Yellowstone National Park. Jack is a graduate of University of Maryland, where he graduated with a degree in Environmental Science, Soil, Water, and Land Resources. Jack is an outdoors enthusiast who enjoys backpacking, climbing, and whitewater kayaking. He joined PAX because he loves seeing what founders are passionate about and wanted to help direct investments towards climate-friendly startups.
PAX fuses Matthew's three professional passions: early-stage investing, entrepreneurship, and B2B sales. Prior to PAX, Matthew developed his venture capital skills with Blu Venture Investors, where he funded over 70 promising early-stage companies. Matthew's accomplishments as an investor build on his experience as an accomplished entrepreneur. In 2005, Matthew successfully exited Segovia, the broadband satellite communications company he co-founded. In his core, Matthew still considers himself a salesman. For over a decade, Matthew consistently delivered exceptional results providing complex tech solutions to corporate and government customers. Matthew and his wife live in Darnestown, MD where they like to garden, entertain, and plan excursions around the planet. Together, they raised four sons and seven dogs, and are awaiting dozens of grandchildren. Matthew and Natalie met when they were liberal arts students at BYU.
