Rory Smith founded Plandome Capital LLC to spend more time doing what he loves most which is working with entrepreneurs and family owned businesses to develop the strategy, systems, and personnel to win in their industry. As a family owned private equity firm, Plandome Capital spends no time raising money and can afford to be a patient investor with a long-term view. Prior to Plandome Capital, Rory Smith was a founding partner and Managing Director at Nautic Partners, LLC which has over $2.5 billion under management. In addition to making investments at Nautic Partners, Rory Smith served on the firm's Executive Committee; had responsibility for accounting, investor relations, personnel, and IT; raised several funds from institutional investors; and served on public and private boards of industry leading companies. Previous employment included Prudential Capital Corporation and Bankers Trust Company. Rory Smith is a professor at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University teaching a course on private equity. He previously taught at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He is also a high school boys lacrosse coach in Vero Beach, Fl. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School and Amherst College. Rory Smith has been an avid outdoorsman all his life and enjoys triathlon having completed 3 Ironman distance races.
