RACIAL EQUITY ROWAN

Racial Equity Rowan was established in 2019 using the Racial Equity Institute (REI) as our workshop presenter. In our own community, we recognize that racism is a fierce, ever-present force that has structured the behavior and actions of our institutions and people for centuries, negatively impacting health, social, educational, and criminal justice outcomes. We formed RE Rowan to support the good work already going on in Rowan County around racial equity and create a platform for further anti-racism work to thrive... We believe in the potential of our community. Racial Equity Rowan exists to promote equity across racial lines so that we can meet that potential together. We believe that our community is made of up people who want the best for each other. However, what we lack is a common narrative about our history and insights into how this past has shaped the institutions and attitudes of our society.
