Ailsa Swarbrick

Ailsa is Head of Perinatal, Children and Young People's Mental Health at NHS England and Improvement. She has over 25 years' experience of policy, service design and implementation, mainly in relation to children and young people. She has worked as a civil servant in DHSC and DfE and also in the NHS, at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust where roles included Divisional Director of Gender Services and, for seven years, Director of the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) National Unit. In that role she led the scale up of FNP - a targeted, evidence based, public health home visiting programme - across much of England and then a significant programme of innovation and change.

Dr Aoife O'Higgins

Aoife joined Foundations as Director of Evidence and Evaluation in 2022. Prior to this, Aoife held the post of Director of Research at What Works for Children's Social Care, where she led WWCSC's research portfolio, focusing on evaluations of new and existing interventions. Before joining WWCSC, Aoife was a researcher at the University of Oxford, where she also completed her doctorate. Aoife also worked with children and young people in and on the edge of care for nearly 10 years. Outside of WWCSC, Aoife is a school governor, tries to convince herself that she could be a runner and fantasises about going back to play Roller Derby. Mostly, she plays second fiddle to two small children.
