Broken Chains Awareness Development Group (BCADG) is a non-profit organization that provides cultural awareness programs and college scholarships to help local young men and women of the Greater Houston area recognize their true value, abilities and potential.

Tarla has been active in the field of executive leadership, education and training for over 25 years, focusing on special education, non-traditional school start-ups, and curriculum development. Work in this areas has been for both traditional and non-traditional school districts, private schools and the local educational service centers. Tarla seeks to expand educational opportunity in ways that are life-changing for children and transforming for all she comes into contact with. She strives to be the leader, and develop leaders necessary to realize educational excellence and equity. To this end she works in purposeful, strategic, and resourceful ways, defines broadly what is within her control to solve, and learn and improve constantly. Tarla acts on her belief that the movement to ensure educational equity will succeed only if it is diverse in every respect. In particular, she values the perspective and credibility that individuals who share the racial and economic backgrounds of the students with whom they work can bring to the organization, classrooms, and the long term effort for change.
