The name "Cap's" pays homage to Captain Theodore "Cap" Knight, the great grandfather of our founding partner. Captain Knight opened Cap's Place, the first restaurant in Broward County, when he beached a large barge used to smuggle rum from the Bahamas during prohibition. The barge served as a speakeasy, casino, and eventually a restaurant serving Florida seafood with Bahamian influence which turned it into what it is now. Cap's St. Pete honors the legacy of Captain Knight, while reviving the Old Florida approach to great seafood with modern flair.
