LENIN HERCULES

Sleepbox is an airport micro-hotel concept. Although similar pods are common in other countries, the US did not have them until 2018. The client contracted MLBK (a company I was involved with) to engineer, fabricate and install the pods... Based on guidelines, I engineered the pods, built a prototype, and oversaw the production and installation of 23 sleeping pods in three states. There are three types of pods: standard, large (wheelchair accessible), and compact. A standard pod has a mirror and drawers while a compact one does not. There is enough room under the bed to stow carry-on luggage. I oversaw the installation of the Sleepboxes in Dulles International Airport (16 standard pods), Austin-Bergstrom, and Indianapolis International Airports (7 compact pods for FedEx pilots)... Made of Fire-resistant plywood and wood-textured laminate for a cozy feel, they are soundproof and spacious for travelers to stretch their legs. The guests can control the brightness and color of the lights..
