André Hoffmann

André Hoffmann is a businessman, environmentalist, and philanthropist. He firmly believes in business as a force for good, and is a passionate advocate for the corporate pursuit of societal purpose and sustainability. André is Vice Chairman of Roche Holding AG, a highly innovative pharmaceutical company established by his great-grandfather in 1896. He also serves on the board of the fully-owned subsidiary, Genentech Inc. Alongside these non-executive roles in the family business, André joined the Board of SystemIQ to help drive positive disruption in economic systems; and sits on the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum, and the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. André also has a distinguished career in nature conservation and sustainability. He is the President of the MAVA Foundation, a leading conservation foundation, and President of Fondation Tour du Valat, a world-renowned institute dedicated to wetland conservation. He has also served on the boards of WWF International, Wetlands International, Global Footprint Network, and FIBA. André's also helped establish the Hoffmann Global Institute in Business and Society (HGIBS) at INSEAD, and chairs its Advisory Board. André studied economics at St. Gallen University and holds an MBA from INSEAD.

Carlos Lopes

Carlos Lopes is a Professor at the Mandela School of Public Governance, University of Cape Town, Visiting Professor at Sciences Po, Paris, and a Chatham House Associate Fellow. During 2017, he was a Visiting Fellow of the Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford. He belongs to the boards of about a dozen institutions. Prof Lopes has occupied several leadership positions across the United Nations system, including Policy Director for Secretary-General Kofi Annan; head of UNDP's policy bureau; head of UNITAR and the UN System Staff College; UN Resident Coordinator in Zimbabwe and Brazil; and the 8th Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (2012-2016). He is a member of the African Union Reform team and the AU High Representative for Partnerships with Europe. He has served in the Global Commission for Economy and Climate (serviced by WRI), the Global Commission for the Future of Work (serviced by ILO) and the Global Commission on the Geostrategy of Energy Transformation (serviced by IRENA). Prof Lopes is an award winner widely published author, with over 20 edited or authored books and featured articles in main media vehicles such as Project Syndicate, CNN, Le Monde, Financial Times, China Daily, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, El Pais, Mail & Guardian, New African or Jeune Afrique. 21 times selected for the "most influential Africans" lists of New African, Jeune Afrique, Africa Report, Financial Afrik and others.

Dorothée Herr

Dorothée Herr is a Senior Associate at NatureFinance and leads the work on biodiversity credit markets contributing to the broader work on building a better governance of nature markets. Dorothee was previously the Manager for Ocean and Climate Change for the Ocean Team at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), leading the IUCN's international policy and private finance engagement on coastal and marine Nature-based Solutions. She has authored articles and reports on ocean acidification, Blue Carbon as well as on coastal and marine Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in the context of the UNFCCC, CBD and other international policy fora. Dorothee developed, with a team of financial experts, the Blue Natural Capital Financing Facility (BNCFF) and the Blue Carbon Accelerator Fund (BCAF) and co-developed the Subnational Climate Fund (SCF) and its Technical Assistance Facility, funded by the Green Climate Fund. She received her masters degree in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University, UK and her diploma in Geography from the University of Heidelberg in Germany.

Dr Bruno Oberle

Dr Bruno Oberle assumed office as Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in July 2020. He brings over 40 years of experience to IUCN at a time when redefining humanity's relationship with nature is more urgent than ever. Before joining IUCN, Dr Bruno Oberle served in some of Switzerland's most prestigious positions related to the environment. Between 2005 and 2015, as State Secretary for the Environment and Director of the Federal Office for the Environment for Switzerland, he represented Switzerland in leading international institutions and international negotiations, playing a key role in the Global Environment Facility and in the establishment of the Green Climate Fund. Dr Oberle is a leading expert in the fields of sustainable resource management and green economy and has explored and shaped the interface between environmental policy, economic development and social equity from the perspective of state regulator, entrepreneur and scientist.

Dr. Rhian-Mari Thomas

Dr. Rhian-Mari Thomas is Chief Executive of the Green Finance Institute, backed by the UK Government and City of London Corporation. Rhian spent 20 years investment banking and corporate finance and was awarded an OBE for services to green banking. She is an Emeritus Member of TCFD and co-chaired the launch of the TNFD. Rhian sits on numerous advisory groups across UK Government including the Net Zero Expert Group, Centre for Greening Finance and Investment, NIC Greenhouse Gas Removals Group, Department for Transport Expert Panel, HMT Green Technical Advisory Group and the UK Voluntary Carbon Markets Forum. Rhian was also a commissioner on the Zero Carbon Commission and a member of the Climate Change Committee's Net Zero Finance Advisory Group. A fluent Welsh speaker, Rhian holds a PhD in Physics from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.

Dr. Vian Sharif

Dr. Vian Sharif's work centres on driving the development of innovative technology solutions to catalyse the shift to more sustainable capital allocations with a focus on the natural environment. She is the founder of ESG nature insights fintech platform NatureAlpha, and heads sustainability at financial investment technology firm FNZ. Her work includes collaborating with academics at Cambridge and Oxford Universities on the development of science-based insights for investor decision-making with a focus on nature risk and impact, including the Benchmark for Nature Project, the Cambridge AI for the study of Environmental Risks Centre and as a guest researcher at the Oxford Martin School. Prior to this she spent over a decade in the global asset management industry. As part of a number of governmental and international sustainability advisory groups, she was a guest researcher at the Oxford Martin School, Member of the Taskforce for Nature Related Financial Disclosures Technical Experts Group and the U.K. Government's Business Advisory group to the Convention on Biological Diversity. Vian holds a PhD in environmental behaviour change, and a masters degree from Cambridge University.

Hank Paulson

Hank Paulson is the founder and chairman of the Paulson Institute, which aims to foster a US-China relationship that maintains global order in a rapidly evolving world. He is also the co-chair of the Aspen Economic Strategy Group, and co-chair of the Bloomberg New Economy Forum Advisory Board. Paulson served as the 74th Secretary of the Treasury under President George W. Bush, from July 2006 to January 2009. Prior to that, he had a thirty-two year career at Goldman Sachs, serving as chairman and chief executive officer beginning in 1999. A lifelong conservationist, Paulson was Chairman of The Nature Conservancy Board of Directors and, prior to that, founded and co-chaired the organization's Asia-Pacific Council. In 2011, he founded the Latin American Conservation Council, comprised of global business and political leaders, which he co-chaired until 2017. He also co-chaired the Risky Business Project from 2013-2017, a non partisan initiative that quantified and publicized the economic risks of climate change in the United States. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the White House Domestic Council as well as a staff assistant at the Pentagon. Paulson is the author of the bestsellers On the Brink and Dealing with China. He is also the co-author of two books with Ben Bernanke and Tim Geithner, First Responders and Firefighting. He graduated from Dartmouth College and received an M.B.A. from Harvard University.

Nakul Saran

Nakul Saran was previously Chief Operating Officer of Sea the Future, Minderoo Foundation's global industry-led initiative to end plastic leakage to nature and accelerate the transition toward a circular plastics economy. At Sea the Future, Nakul leads a global team spanning Australia, Asia, Europe, and the United States to design innovative market-based mechanisms that can enable plastics circularity and kick-start commercially viable recycling markets. He also oversees the initiative's programs on Transparency, Advocacy, and Technology & Innovation. Nakul's work has largely focused on developing financing and governance solutions to restore the world's fragile ecosystems. Prior to joining Minderoo, he served as an independent consultant for major public and social sector clients including the World Bank, World Economic Forum, and Friends of Ocean Action. From 2016 to 2018, he was the Head of Special Projects and Sustainability at Tata Trusts, where he was responsible for the organization's portfolio on energy, climate change, and the environment in India. A passionate lover of oceans, Nakul has served as Vice President, Fish Forever at Rare, where he led the global conservation organization's efforts to revitalize oceans, scaling the program to span five countries and over 100 coastal communities, and was awarded the Mulago Foundation's Rainer Arnhold Fellowship for his leadership. He also spent seven years at McKinsey and Company, where he led the Oceans and Fisheries service within the Sustainability and Resource Productivity Practice. Nakul holds master's degrees in Ocean Engineering and Engineering Management from Florida Institute of Technology.
