Alejandro Alva, MD, is the Founder, Chief Medical officer, and CEO of Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists (PNS). He sees psychiatric patients of all ages at the practice's three offices in Costa Mesa, Orange, and Huntington Beach, California, with a focus on substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment and general psychiatric disorders. Dr. Alva earned his bachelor's degree from California State University, Fullerton, and completed medical school at Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Mexico. He then returned to California, where he completed his psychiatric residency at the University of California, Irvine. To keep up with the latest advancements in psychiatric care, Dr. Alva maintains active membership in a number of professional medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Orange County Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the California Psychiatric Association, as well as multiple others. He is also a member of several specialty organizations and boards, including the American Board of Forensic Medicine, the American College of Forensic Examiners, and the American Board of Psychopharmacology. Like most of the PNS staff, Dr. Alva is bilingual, speaking English and Spanish, and bicultural. He believes that it is his duty to reach out to the Latino community as well as the general community. Ali Ashtiani, MD is a fellowship-trained, board-eligible interventional cardiologist at Cardiology Specialists of Orange County. He has special interests in coronary intervention including coronary angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker implantation, and valvular/structural heart disease. Dr. Ashtiani received his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine Medical Center in Orange, California, he went on to complete internal medicine internship and residency followed by cardiology fellowship and advanced fellowship training in interventional cardiology at the same institution. Annick Aubin-Pouliot, MD, practices the full breadth of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgery, with particular interest in thyroid surgery, head and neck oncologic surgery, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, nasal and sinus surgery, and sleep surgery. Originally from Québec City, Dr. Aubin-Pouliot completed her undergraduate degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston) and Cambridge University (UK) in Neuroscience/Brain and Cognitive Sciences. After MIT, captivated in the neural basis of hearing, she did research on cochlear and auditory brainstem implants at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, ultimately becoming interested in the field of otolaryngology. She attended both medical school and Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) residency at the University of California-San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Bruce Tammelin, MD is a pulmonologist and has been practicing for 40 years. He graduated from University Of Tennessee Health Science Center College Of Medicine in 1975 and specializes in pulmonary disease.
Dr. Michael Whitmore is a board-certified internist with St. Mary High Desert Medical Group. Dr. Whitmore completed medical school at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona in 2017 and Internal Medicine residency at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, California. As a forward-thinking clinician, Dr. Whitmore has established a patient care philosophy that is anchored on collaborative, multi-disciplinary health maintenance between patient and healthcare provider.
