NAF | EQUINE - Key Persons

BD List

Job Titles:
  • Judge, BHSII SM, Stage 4 Senior Coach
I have always had horses in my life and was introduced to them by my grandfather who farmed in East Yorkshire who purchased a Welsh Section A pony from the local market. I've worked in a variety of Equine disciplines from Racing, Hunting, Eventing and at a local riding school I took an interest in Coaching leading me to BHS coaching qualifications and becoming an Equine lecturer. It was while running my own Eventing yard that I took an opportunity to work in sales and is where I still find myself today. Equine Welfare has been always at the forefront of every part of my career and that's why working for NAF and its values of ‘for the good of the horse', is a perfect fit.

Bethan Long

I have been working in Admin for about 15 years and have always loved animals so working at NAF is the perfect fit for me. I love the fact that every day is different and you never know quite what to expect. I also get to work closely with our amazing team of Area Sales Managers and help them provide a Five Star service for all our customers. I love nothing better at the end of the day than disappearing into another world with a good book or creating something beautiful in Cross Stitch.

Branwen Griffin

Job Titles:
  • Customer Support Manager
  • Member of the Advice Team
I have always had a passion for horses and was on the back of a pony before I could walk. Naturally I wanted my career to travel down this path. The best part about this role is communicating with like-minded horse owners. It is a pleasure to provide dedicated Five Star service to our customers and their horses, improving their horse's diet, performance, health and wellbeing with our range of supplements, applications and care products. Horses are a huge part of my life, I'm very lucky to have them at home along with my three dogs and hubby (he knows it's in this order). I love training, competing and all things outdoors!

Cat Gibbs

Job Titles:
  • Area Sales Manager, South West
I had previously worked in sales, gaining valuable experience, however to combine my knowledge and passion of horses within my job role is hugely satisfying. I work closely with Retailers to supply our products and services, and ensure horse owners can choose the right product for their horse. I particularly enjoy that no day is the same, you can be merchandising a store, delivering product training along with placing orders. I live in Devon, near Dartmoor. In my spare time I ride my home bred mare, Fruli while my Labrador Kerry is also in tow! When not on a horse I can be found running various adventures across the moors.

Charlotte Illingworth

Job Titles:
  • Northern Racing Representative
I became interested in nutrition early on, through the family business, but my love of horses led me to teaching, followed by America to work in Showjumping. I then became involved in racing and have worked for some tremendous people including Sue and Harvey Smith, Richard Phillips and Jamie Osborne, a fantastic jockey, Royal Ascot winning trainer and nearly Breeders Cup winner. Through Jamie, I ended up with "Toast of New York", one of my beloved horses. I have twin boys with partner Jim McCarthy, former jump jockey and now Assistant Trainer to Jamie Osborne who was Toast's body guard throughout his career. I enjoy seeing how the products NAF offers work fabulously with racehorses and all other equine athletes.

I came into the world of equine later than most, having always dreamed of owning a horse as a child. I discovered a deep interest in nutrition while studying, and how it can impact horses' behaviour and performance, and this influenced my future degree pathway. I love speaking to people about their horses and working with them to find the best products to improve their horses' welfare. Working for a Five Star brand gives me real confidence in my role to know that I am recommending the very best products to customers! In my spare time I love riding through the Essex countryside on my horse, Perseus. I also spend many of my weekends training and competing in dog agility with my lurcher Murphy, which keeps me very fit!

Helen Brown

  • Buyer
  • Head
I have a BA in Business Management and an MSc in Equine Science from Royal Agriculture University, Cirencester. Working at NAF allows me to combine what I studied with my way of life, so is absolutely ideal. I grew up feeding NAF to my ponies, so knowing what we do works, and seeing the benefits, makes all the difference. I have been with NAF 19 years, and worked around the business. My main focus now is on purchasing all that we need from ingredients to packaging. We have a brilliant team, always busy doing what needs to be done, but with some laughter involved too.

Isla Boxall-Loomes

First and foremost, I have been an animal lover for as long as I can remember and it's a privilege to be able to work in an industry that is also your passion. One of NAF's mantra's is ‘for the good of the horse' and we work to this every day.

Jen Rollason

Job Titles:
  • Area Sales Manager, Mid Wales and West Midlands
I have always been passionate about animals and in particular horses. I have owned horses since a child and have always enjoyed ownership, riding and driving. Following studies in Equestrian science at university, I have worked within the industry for a number of years. I also volunteer my time to a local riding club as it's important for me that all horse owners have the opportunities that I had growing up. I love working at NAF as I see that same passion and love for both animals and riders within my colleagues, customers and the company itself. The best part of my job is advising a product that makes a real difference to the horse's welfare and wellbeing. Any spare time is spent with my horses, dogs and family.

Jo Howse

Job Titles:
  • Senior Area Sales Manager, Cotswolds and M4 Corridor
Having worked in international sales for many years, the opportunity to work for NAF was a perfect change. Already a user of NAF, I loved the fact I had a direct insight into how and why the products worked. My role involves visiting retailers of all sizes, as well as working on our stand at national equine events. My favourite part is speaking to owners, giving advice, and merchandising in store. I love a good display. I breed coloured ponies, under our prefix Knappside, owning Clononeen in a Pickle, our stallion since a foal. Riding is now mostly happy hacking, or riding club clinics with Wessex Gold, a BRC riding club, that I created and still Chair. In younger years, I was a keen competitor, including affiliated showing, eventing and team chasing.

Joanna Cook

Job Titles:
  • Product Development Manager
I started working for NAF nearly 19 years ago. A summer job whilst at university that stuck! I have recently been promoted to Product Development Manager and as I have a wide range of experience working in different departments of the company, it gives me much understanding of how the company operates. No two products are the same which is what makes the job so enjoyable. At home I am kept busy by 2 young children and our new puppy Penny.

Jonathan Bagg

Job Titles:
  • International Sales and Business Development Manager
I am passionate about providing the correct equine nutrition globally. My role includes investigating and developing new countries, understanding the Equine's needs in each country and making sure we can deliver the right product mix to each country is my main driving force. To hear from horse owners and riders from all equestrian disciplines how feeding the NAF supplement range has made an improvement in their horses' health or way of going is immensely satisfying. I am extremely fortunate that my passion outside of work is also horses, so I can use my career knowledge to benefit my own horse.

Jonathan Canty

Katie James

I have always been that horse mad girl who's Dad wishes he'd bought a tennis racket for and not riding lessons! Having ridden since young, I've been lucky enough to carry this passion through my education, Equine Science at fabulous Hartpury, and into my career. My role at NAF is my absolute dream job! I thoroughly enjoy working with my retailers and in all aspects of sales, marketing and product training. Having been a manager previously in equestrian retail I feel I truly understand all of my customers needs. I am a very keen Dressage rider and currently have two wonderful mares, Bouvardia and Pauldary's Zarla Blue, Fern and Zarla to their friends who I love to train, compete and enjoy! Lena Gould

Animals, particularly dogs and horses have been my passion from when I was a toddler. It was always clear to me that I needed a career that enables me to play a part in improving their health and wellbeing, while being surrounded by like-minded people.

Linda Porter

Job Titles:
  • Sales and Marketing Director
I was brought up in the creative world of brand building agencies, and my role at NAF allows me to combine that experience with my interests. I am hugely proud of the Five Star brands and our position in the equine industry. The best thing about NAF, apart from the fact that the products work (which makes my job so much easier) is the Team, who are passionate about horses, dogs and cats and care about making a difference, and all of whom share in my belief in the importance of having fun, whilst working hard. I'm pictured here with the love of my life (don't tell my husband), a liver Dalmatian called Jackson.

Lisa Field

Job Titles:
  • Member of the Advice Team

Lorna George

Job Titles:
  • Assistant Director - UK Sales & Business Development
Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember as my hobby and my absolute passion. My mother was a keen show producer, which I followed her into - the highlight of our year was a week-long stay at the Horse of the Year Show, then held at Wembley. Eventually I switched to Dressage which to this day I absolutely love. I have been lucky enough to work with some of our top trainers and have competed to Intermediate level myself. I enjoy training enormously and these days teach at a variety of levels from Introductory to Grand Prix in my limited spare time. I joined NAF fifteen years ago as UK Sales and Business Development Manager and have relished the opportunity of working within the equestrian industry for a market leading company that produces such a great variety of efficacious products. I look after UK Sales, managing the wonderful UK Sales Team and also NAF's Rider Support Programme. The latter gives me an opportunity to work closely with some of our leading riders and their horses - there is nothing quite like knowing that NAF's products have contributed to a Gold Medal or World Championship win!

Lucy Scott

Job Titles:
  • International Marketing Manager
I have had the pleasure of working alongside NAF for many years in my previous role in media, but to now be on this side of the table as part of Team NAF is a joy. NAF products are sold in a huge amount of countries all over the world and I'm loving getting to learn about the equestrian industry in a great many of them as well as working closely with our fantastic partners who represent the brand so brilliantly for us. I love hearing such incredible feedback and reviews from horse and pony owners about our products. I always knew NAF products were the best but hearing real life stories first hand of how they have impacted horses' lives for the better is just the most amazing thing and something I can't get enough of. Outside of work, I act as personal chauffeur to my two young children and the best days are always those where we're making new family memories with them. Outside of that, I am a keen swimmer, I like to get lost in a good book, I love a musical and if ever the opportunity arises to travel, I'm there with bells on!

Mary Wastie

Job Titles:
  • Area Sales Manager, Scotland and the North
I have been involved in the equestrian trade for the last 18 years, first in retail managing an equine department, then on the road as an agent, saddle fitter and bitting consultant, before coming to work for NAF in 2014. I've always been interested in nutrition, human, equine and canine, so working for NAF helps to increase that knowledge. I have two dogs, a lurcher and a terrier, and live in rural Scotland with lots of beautiful walks and scenery.

Rachael Thompson

Job Titles:
  • Brand Executive - International
I have been a lover of horses all of my life and have achieved some fantastic competition results in Eventing. My proudest and most stand out result will definitely be European Team Gold medallist! I was lucky enough to be a NAF supported rider and I learned how quickly great supplements can help you achieve those results. Especially when the horses are working so hard and out most weekends in the lorry. I love that no two days are the same in my role, and I have really enjoyed learning about nutrition in different parts of the world and what is important to different countries. I live in a beautiful part of North Wales and in my free time (when it's not taken up running after my 2 crazy girls!) I love to get up on the mountain for a ride or walking the dog. I also love a bit of CrossFit!

Rachel Thomas

Job Titles:
  • Area Sales Manager - Northern England
Coming from an equestrian family I have always enjoyed riding and competing, my main passion is eventing. I currently own Oliver, my homebred 8 year old Selle Francais x TB. During four years as a working pupil, with Ruth McMullen, I was shortlisted for both Junior and Young Rider European eventing teams, and competed up to 4* level, the highlight of this was finishing 7th at Bramham CCI 3*. Set up on my own I continued to compete to Advanced, being selected for the Olympic Pathway Programme. I love producing horses from ‘babies' and competing through the ranks.

Sammy Martin

Job Titles:
  • Racing Manager
I have always had a love of racing and Thoroughbreds, and I'm passionate about the training, welfare and wellbeing of racehorses. Having previously worked for the British Horseracing Authority and the International Racing Bureau, I was thrilled to join NAF in 2017 to head up the dedicated racing range.
