Mary Ann passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. She was born in Rochester on October 9, 1953, and resided in the Rochester area throughout her 69 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Carmella (nèe Cottone) Colamarino.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving wife, Susan Kazak; her brother and sister-in-law, Len Colamarino and Robin Noble, of Atascadero, California; and many cousins and long-time friends.
Mary Ann grew up in East Irondequoit, where she attended grade school at St. James School. She graduated from St. Joseph's Business High School in downtown Rochester in 1971 and subsequently took a number of courses at Monroe Community College and Rochester Institute of Technology.
Mary Ann spent her entire working career in the non-profit sector, serving as an administrative assistant at the Girl Scouts of America, the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester and the Louis S. Wolk JCC of Greater Rochester, from which she retired three years ago. Her greatest career satisfaction came during the decade or so when she worked at Threshold Center for Alternative Youth Services, under the leadership of then-Executive Director Philip Yawman. Threshold made a difference in many young lives during that period, and Mary Ann found fulfilment in the role she played as a member of the Threshold team.
Mary Ann had many wide-ranging interests in her personal life. Most notably, she was a lifelong food enthusiast and in recent years developed a passion for fishing and boating. Underneath her mild-mannered personality was a strong will and a mind and identity all her own, which made her a very special person to all who were fortunate enough to get to know her.
A memorial ceremony commemorating Mary Ann's rich and loving life will be held at Good Luck Restaurant (50 Anderson Ave. Rochester, 14607) on Saturday, May 6th, at 11:00AM.
Mary Ann's loved ones are deeply saddened by her untimely passing and the pain and suffering that cancer forced her to endure. They want to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Aurora House of Western Monroe County, in Spencerport, for the extraordinary hospice care that gave comfort to Mary Ann during her last days. In lieu of flowers, they ask that donations be made in Mary Ann's memory to the Aurora House.
Mary Magdalene Wilson, 82, of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on March 24th, 2023, surrounded by her family. Mary was born and raised in Ridgway, PA and moved to Rochester, NY when she was 23.
Mary, known as "Grandma Mary" to many, had the biggest heart in what most saw as a small package. A servant at heart, she was a kind and thoughtful soul who touched many lives. When she wasn't supporting her family and friends, you could find her volunteering at church.
Mary is survived by her children, Stephen (Lisa) Wilson and Sharon (Thomas) Stefano; her grandchildren, Jena (Matthew) Morey, Kyle (Rebecca) Stefano, Breanna Stefano, Colleen Stefano, Hailey Wilson, and Brandon Wilson; her great-grandson, Carter Stefano "her sunshine"; her siblings, Jean (Edward) Marchok, James (Bonnie) Casolo, and James Carbardi, plus other nieces, nephews, cousins and many caring friends.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Magdalene and Severin Casolo; husband, Dale Wilson; sister, Patricia Carbardi; and Doncia Pire Cliff, who she loved as her own.
